Ever since I've gotten DSL and actually have bene able to get calls, it's nothing but crap. Pickup, hello?, hello?, hello? *click*.
Pickup, hello? Who's this? He's not here, and if he were he wouldn't be interested. *click*
Pickup, hello? No, I don't want your damn magazine. *click*
Pickup, hello? No, be a good solicitor and send your damn credit card ads through the mail so I can ignore them. *click*

If I find a telemarketer on the street he's getting seriously hurt. This damn crap is enraging.

I hate telemarketers if they call and I answer they had better watch out! Hell no I don't want their product if I wanted their product I would contact THEM!! :disgust: :|

I think you can find out the numbers that are blocked by pressing *69 but they charge like $.10 for each call that you look up. :| :|

That's not the point...knowing the number before they call is important so you don't waste your time picking up. After they call, who cares what their number is.

And *69 only works on numbers that caller ID picks up anyway. If caller ID reports it as unavailable, *69 isn't going to report anything

*69 uses caller id, but if you call the phone co and ask them for a wire trace, they can do it for any number - it will just cost a bunch and you may need a warrent.

Also, if i'm not mistaken, i heard somewhere that there is a FCC rule that solicitors MUST identify themselves on the caller id.

Anytime I get a "number unknown" I just do not answer the phone - if they can't be bothered to leave a message it was unimportant. In fact I hardly ever answer the phone, because it saves a lot of grief and having to listen to some moron go off about something I don't want.
