Yesterday, with the addition of new member NicColt, TeAm DF was able to move up into 4th overall! :D

Of course, Rechenkraft.net, the previous holders of what now rightfully belongs to us, refuses to take this lying down, and have shifted in some crunchers from other projects.

Rechenkraft.net will pass us tomorrow unless we can get our production up! :(:(

So come on people, give us: more! more! more!

EDIT: We've managed to hold them off for a couple of days... but they've brought in enough firepower to pass us by tomorrow, the day after that tops! We need your help!

According to KDFold I've got 28 clients running now and most are 24/7 with the "useram=1" option. Of these I'd guess 20 are Dell GX-240's (P4-1.8 w/256MB) and the rest are no worse than P3-800 w/256MB. What should I expect as far as production? I'm only doing around 2M per day now. I know that's not too bad but I was doing near 4M not long ago and AFAIK we haven't had a huge change is speed because of protein changes.

Hmm, I guess that depends to RAM speed. I think there was a thread at the DF forums mentioning a good place for comparison stats.

The last two protiens have been significantly slower than what we were doing prior....
I'm betting you are fine!

I miss 'Those who were Sid :(

With the warmer weather comes a warmer computer room. The wife doesn't like the 90+ F temps so I've had to turn off 4 crunchers to keep the room in the 70's...and even that's not cool enough for her.

Box 1: 2400+ XP, 1.5GB, 120GB RAID 0, GF4 TI4600
Box 2: 2100+ XP, 512MB, 80GB HD, GF4 TI4200
Box 3: 2100+ XP, 512MB, 60GB HD, GF3 TI200
Box 4: 2000+ XP, 512MB, 60GB HD, GF4 MX440

In the winter, they did keep the room at 68 F with the heat off. I'm looking at a room air conditioner to keep it cool so I can turn em back on.

There's both a text and a screensaver version (though the screensaver's a bit slower ~10%).

Joining TA is easy!

Here's the TA-DF FAQ. It explains how to do most of the stuff.

A quick summary:

Goto DF.
Click on "High Flyers" and sign up.
After that, log-on (again through the "High Flyers" link).
Select "Team Anandtech" from the drop-down list.

And welcome aboard!

If you need any help, just ask!

am running text cli since that is nearly always quicker, can't use the super duper fast option cos i only got 128 mb, so would there b any point in disabling all client output ? do like seeing the proteins fold cos it lets me know its doing something, but if it'll go faster without i'll disable it :)

Not really much point. I think the difference it makes in the client's speed is pretty much neglible (~2% if I recall correctly).

What system are you running on?

K6-2 500, 100 mhz FSB, 2 Mb L2 (though WCPU doesn't recognise it ! sandra does tho), 128 mb Cas 2 :) Oh yeah and Win2k. Was thinking of getting a K6-2+ but then realised that i can have a new mobo and duron 1.1 for £40 !

Well you've got a couple of options then.

IMO you're best bet is to leave the task-manager open but minimized (so it appears in your tray); if it's solid green (i.e. crunching at 100%) then it's all good. Mind you, it will drop for a few seconds when it starts to upload.

You can also use dfGUI/kdFold/other tracker to check that it's going (and get some benchmark info too!).

You can set it up as a service or schedule it to run, or use one of a myriad of other options to run it hidden.

When it's running hidden you can know whether it's working by using dfGUI for example, or by keeping your task-manager open but minimized to the tray. It'll show a little green box in the tray that indicates at what level the CPU is working; if it's all green then it's working 100%.

I'll post a screenshot later on today to show you what I mean.

Ggrrrr...I'm so tempted to help out but the SoB team is in a heated battle with Primerib and ORU and I would hate to pull production away from that. I wish I had more computers so I could help everyone. To be fair I'll stay where I'm at but I'll keep an eye on the situation. Good luck guys!:)
