The WWII shooter genre has just been beat to death...there's only so many times you can storm the beaches or take out the sniper in the church tower. I like WWII shooters but I'm so glad they moved on.

Yes, that's the one. I thought it was interesting that they took some time to educate you on what it would be like to serve in the Soviet army in WWII. I never really considered the idea that they sent unarmed men into battle with the notion that they'd arm themselves with rifles from their dead or injured comrades. Also it was interesting that there were government agents pointing submachine guns at the grunts' backs to keep them "motivated" every step of the way. It's telling about how the Soviet machine really operated and provides some clues as to why the system eventually failed.

COD:UO was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than COD2. I dropped $60 to preorder COD2, played it a week then went back to UO.

It's pretty dumbed down. By that point in the war the Commissars were less important, as Stalin had gotten mauled by Finland a few years back and realized that maybe his political buddies WEREN'T the best commanders for his troops. The winter war was much more like what is pictured in the Soviet campaign.
