I would wager for every player playing some antiquated platformer on a crappy emulator, there are 100 players playing CoD. Just CoD. Add the millions of players worldwide across all first person shooters, and you'll find that you are very far in the minority. God of War's recent release is a perfect example. In the 2 months it has been out it has sold less copies than Black Ops 2 has sold in the last week. Platformers are shit games that are played by a niche crowd. Your argument is dead and has no basis in reality, give it up.

i'm just glad i'm not crippled and can enjoy all types of games and not have to defend one type and attack all other types.

Hahah, no doubt. As obviously the number of people buying is the only metric that he goes by, I'm sure he does nothing but eat McD's and drink nothing but Budweiser and Coca-Cola. As obviously since things like Sushi, Steak, and such are for losers who are into niche stuff. Oh, and Ferraris/Lambos are for fools, the Toyota Corolla is the only car worth buying. Oh, and American Idol is waaaaaaay better than Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones or anything else in the history of the universe. For that matter, 'Twilight' movies are infinitely better than garbage like Fight Club.

Hey hey hey, don't bring Coke into this.

"Oh I saw 15 seconds of in engine footate; I can tell this game is going to suck already" - morons who just jump on the hate bandwagon.

They got a good writer to do the story (and directing I think), so the single player should be pretty good. The new engine should be impressive, at least more so than the previous CoDs. I liked the dog and the detail, but I have been burned by a certain Peter M. and his dog before!

So.... someone who saw 15 seconds of footage and thinks it sucks = Moron and someone who saw 15 seconds of footage and thinks it will rock = :whiste:

I just want to know what happens to Dog. Or, more accurately IMO, how--I can't help thinking they're going to kill the poor rendered critter for shock value or some such, but I'm at a loss as to how. Tactical nuke? Building falls on it? Shot by a sniper?

So.... someone who saw 15 seconds of footage and thinks it sucks = Moron and someone who saw 15 seconds of footage and thinks it will rock = :whiste:

which is hilarious, since based on previous experience its more likely to be a top selling piece of trash than a good game

I never said it would rock. It should be more impressive than previous CoDs due to upgrades in the engine and the ideas presented.

And, really, if so many of you hate CoD why come into a thread about it? You all remind me of the neckbeards who post on the blizzard forums about how much they hate D3 and WoW, yet have over 1000 hours played in each.

Oh, a game that still can't run at 60FPS on modern PCs with high end graphics is being compared to a game that can run on all console platforms at 60FPS. You sure got them good!

Not defensive at all. I am skeptical about some of the features. I just don't jump on the "OMG it is called Call of Duty therefore I hate it" crap most of the people who complain about CoD are on. Exdeath is a prime example.

You're arguing current sales and popularity. That has nothing to do with longevity. God, you're dense.

You're talking about how popular games that are 3-5 years old are. That's not longevity. That's a fad. I never once argued platformers were more popular. But your assertion that they are "naked, boring games with no replayability" is completely and utterly negated by the fact that 20-25 year old games are still being released, rereleased, and selling and doing quite well. Not to mention the plethora of new IPs and franchises.

You're trying to conflate sales of games released in the last 3 years to longevity and replayability 20+ years down the line, and it's not the same thing. At all.

Except, we can equate that the popularity of these current gigantic IPs is much more than that of old. CoD has been out, what, 10 years? And in that short amount of time, they are one of the best selling series of all time and growing. There are very few IPs that can eclipse CoD in terms of lasting power. Quake? Yeah, it was great, but it is dead. Doom? Dead. Half Life? Dead. These series did not last 10 years. CoD has, and will continue for the foreseeable future. Like it or not CoD has stood the test of time.

I agree you can't judge it off 15 seconds of footage, but you also can't go off the writer either.

Crysis 2 - Written by Richard Morgan (Altered Carbon) = ridiculous plot fiasco (cool ideas with the transhuman Nanosuit tho)
Modern Warfare 3 - Written by Paul Haggis (Casino Royale, Million Dollar Baby, Crash) = again, ridiculous and no better than MW2

So, nothing shown yet at E3. Does Activision even have a conference scheduled? I figured there would be something during MS's because of the Xbox One event, but I guess not.

They showed it off yesterday, showed two levels and a video about the "new" graphics tech (displacement mapping, tessellation, and hdr). Graphically I thought it looked good but not great. The single player levels they showed looked mediocre.

I don't hate Call of Duty, I just don't enjoy playing it and I laugh at the children and bros who think they're a top FPS player because they're decent at console Call of Duty. It's plebian gaming at best, appeal to the lowest common denominator and sell the shit out of it. McDonalds and Anhueiser Busch do the same thing. It works, and more power to them. If people are stupid enough to shell out between $60-$100 yearly to play, they deserve every penny they get.

Oh and the reason that people like me and others join these threads are because if someone started a thread about how Call of Duty is lame, it would probably get locked. So there's nowhere else to share their feelings on the game/series. I try not to be too insulting in my opinions of the game, but that's just how I feel.

People don't mind someone joining a thread and stating their dislike about a game, but generally the people that go spout off "omg cod sucks and only bros play it" and a bunch of other generic arguments then they go off about Amra 2 being so amazing.

There is nothing wrong with people enjoying playing CoD and playing it. Same as there is nothing wrong with people not enjoying it. We just don't have to hear about it every time an FPS is brought up (which is usually done by CoD haters, not fans).
