The game will have high res textures that are tacked onto an old, vomit inducing engine. I'm glad they are trying though. Good times for PC gaming.

It's becoming quite clear that I may have to replace my dual 6850s before too long. Jeeze, 50GB hard drive install. Feel bad for anyone who has a strict download cap.

The game does look very good, though I've never been a CoD fan.

Minimum System Requirements
RAM: 6 GB RAM

that's the most surprising part for me, minimum 6GB?

the last COD probably works fine with 2GB.

Prob cuz the consoles have 8gb now.

Random question - what kind of doors does it open for developers now that they have tons of RAM to work with? I know HD textures are stored in VRAM so what is all this system ram now being used for?

This may be a new engine.. Maybe not a built from the ground up type of new, but new enough to be DX11 and 64 bit native, which implies a substantial overhaul.

As far as I know, textures are also stored in system memory, a long with animations, audio, game code etc. System memory also acts as a buffer for the VRAM..

I got this covered, but those are heavy specs.

Not nearly as bad as watchdogs. That has a quad core cpu for the minimum. I think high cpu requirements are more problematic for those of us with low/mid range systems, because if your gpu is weak it is easier to replace than a cpu/mb, or you can just turn down some settings.

I just haven't seen anything from the gameplay videos released so far that justify those kinds of hardware requirements. Until I see something different from the game it seems to simply be inflated as a PR move to counter BF4.

50 gigs?! Seriously? What are they doing? Using uncompressed audio and video and 4096x4096 textures?

Coincidentally, 50GB is also the limit of a dual-layer blu-ray.

Meh dosent look like it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_of_Duty:_Ghosts

"The game will debut an engine built by the developer, originally described as a new engine, but later clarified to be the same engine as used in previous games with "significant" upgrades."

Thought CoD had finally caught up with BF for a second there...
