Call of Duty - game a bit too realistic?

I understand it is just a game, but, especially after playing that newest demo, does anyone else think that the level of realism in this game is just a bit too much to make it fun to play?

What the hell are you talking about? It takes several shots just to take someone down, when in real life they would be dead after 1 shot.

If anything, they should make it more realistic, somewhat like DoD where you can kill someone in one shot with several different weapons.

They woudn't be dead after one shot, disabled, yes, but not dead. I have noticed if you hit them in the upper chest and head/neck, it only takes one shot. Otherwise, 2-3 depending on where you hit them.

PCmarine - someone is already developing an ultra-realistic mod for CoD. I have spoken with him, and the number of changes they are making is astounding.

A head shot is a one shot kill. It also has location based damage, like Soldier of Fortune. You're not going to kill a guy instantly by hitting him in the arm.

Personally, I really like the realism. It's starting to feel like your participating in a movie instead of playing a game (somewhat).

i dont know if its too realistic. but it depresses me and makes me uncomfortable to play.

I would think a game like the Rainbow Six series could be considered relatively realistic. I'd never put Call of Duty in that same nitch. Yes it's cool, but it's still "gamey". Not to mention that you inevitably game the scripts in CoD to survive.

The sounds in the game are enough to send chills down my spine. I was playing it this afternoon with the blinds closed and with the door shut...

I've never been that fully immersed into a game since Half Life

Call of Duty is pimpjuicius maximus. :D I can't wait to get my friends hooked on it. We're planning a CoD LAN party sometime in November at my place. ;)

it could definitly be more realistic. you usually dont run around in real life when your being shot at.

The demo was nice but I'll wait til the price falls to $20.00 or so. Won't be long, about 6 months tops.

I am loving this game. The post about the sound is dead on. Unfortunately It's late and I can't pump up the volume on my z560s w/ my audigy2. Headphones will have to do.


I wish ups lived closer to me ;). I promised myself that I wouldn't get into the multiplayer until I finished up the singleplayer. I just started the SP game today, so MP will be soon :).

rgrmative. I tried looking for info on this problem, but I couldn't find any. Glad to know I'm not the only one in this boat. Cruisin' around in your on dinghy gets pretty lonely. Hopefully a fix will be found soon.

The demo isnt even 5 minutes long :)

The scariest part about the game, it nagged me twice to install DirectX9.0b, but it worked fine, even though im only running 8.1 :eek:

is this game fun to play? I should pick up a copy within the next few days. I heard it's great.

up to this point, the only games i really liked have been..

RON, MP2 and Vice City.

I found this on some CoD page in their forums section. Supposedly it's been resolving some of the freezing issues 9800 users have been having. I'm gonna try it out. I'll post results later. :)

same i was brought up watching R rated movies at a youngish age with the warning "its just a movie (or game) its not real"

so kill bill and alot of other stuff don't phase me at all.......or games...

even in the movie ricky-o (which im sure no one has seen) where the guy stabs himself and then trys to strange ricky with his own intestines.....most people are like OMG.....and i don't care.....

maybe im just fvked up
