Black ops will apparently have native stereoscopic 3d support on ps3, 360 and pc

I'm now seriously considering purchasing a 3d tv. 🙂

I was on the fence about this game, and I have decided to just buy Medal of Honor and I will gamefly Black Ops. I was never impressed with the MP on MW2, so I figure going the gamefly route is the best idea.

You might want to give MoH a rental first, I played the beta and it was AWFUL, possibly the worst FPS game I've ever played (literally).

Agree 1000%. That beta made me cancel my pre-order of MOH. I know it was just a beta, but it was bad enough that I don't think they will be able to fix it.

The beta period should be about testing the game when it's essentially finished and fixing minor glitches and working on weapon balance and spawn locations and little things like that. MoH had major errors in how the game was coded and how it played that they simply couldn't have had enough time to fix. I had decent hopes for the game but the beta crushed them in about 5 minutes.

YIKES...rethinks purchasing MoH

Yea, the PC MoH beta saved me $60.

I'm not as excited for Black Ops as I was MW2, but I'll probably buy it if there's a decent preorder "cash back" offer at Amazon

I'd look at Black Ops for your shooter jollies this Fall.

I think that Black Ops looks pretty good but I'm so hooked on Halo (which I can't believe, I am NOT a Halo guy!) that I've not been focusing Black Ops much lately (odd considering how enammored I was with MW2).

That's ok, I have read all the fixes they have done. And I am sure that Black Ops will be just as broken on day one as MW2 was without a beta, so I will be fine with MoH.

but now it sounds you like you have become one.

I saw that list too, they tried to "fix" the game by addressing alot of the little things but they didn't even attempt to fix alot of the big things.

But to each their own, maybe I'm just biased (wait, MoH: Allied Assault is one of my favorite games of all time, so that can't be it...)

Yeah, to each their own indeed. I am probably just more open to this game than a lot of others because I am tired of being milked for $60 every year on a moderatly updated Call of Duty, and after all the negative experiences I had on MW2, am looking to play anything but COD this year. I played the beta and didn't run into any game breaking issues myself, so I never thought it was a bad beta (graphically it wasn't great, but that's to be expected).

Looks like the game is getting 3D support too........

My tv apparently does 3D. I've had it for 2 years, don't know why they included 3D support since it's not a very expensive tv (samsung pn42a450). Apparently I need to buy some really expensive glasses to use it though.

It is funny though that one of the biggest releases is doing 3d but hasn't talked about it. I don't think 3d will ever be a huge deal, but that's just my opinion.

Well, theyre talking about it now.

Contrary to popular belief, 3D is not a gimmick. Its how we see things in real life. It can be used to a gimmicky effect, but its a far more natural way of viewing content than watching it on the single plane of a flat screen.

Granted its a far more inconvenient way of viewing content in it's current incarnation, but frankly, I'm used to wearing stupid things on my head (360 headset), used to wearing glasses, so wearing stupid glasses isnt too much of a stretch.

I know its easy to jump on the "3D is stupid" bandwagon, but I'd challenge any of the real haters to walk around for a day with one eye covered, and then see how much they value depth perception.

It may never be a huge deal to those who refuse to wear the glasses, but its not going away. Its too easy to implement in games, such an afterthought that it will never make sense not to enable it for most games going forward. I had my doubts they could pull it off this generation, but they seem to be making it happen.

Never said it was stupid, just saying that it is impractical right now. It costs way too much money, and has had several instances where it caused severe headaches and other things after just two hours. Most gamers play marathon sessions.

You haven't said a single positive thing about this game, yet you still post in this topic?

Just sayin ... 😉

Its really not all that expensive or impractical, it just requires a newish TV. If you were planning on upgrading around now anyways, you'll practically get it thrown in for free. Most midrange TV sets seem to be including it now. By the end of next year, it'll probably be very difficult NOT to buy a 3D TV.

If you just bought a TV recently then you might not be in the market for a few years, but its not as if 3D adds $1000 to the cost of a TV.

its just the glasses for me personally. i wear glasses at home rather than my contacts. All the real 3d glasses i have seen just don't look like they would work or be comfortable wearing over them.

I just haven't been a fan of 3d really. Avatar in 3d? Meh whatever it was ok but nothing special to me. Perhaps its just my vison is poor so thats why though. According to my job i have poor depth perception so who knows!

I know what you mean. I was never a Halo guy either, but I'm really enjoying Reach Multiplayer.

Really, maybe you ought to go back a few pages. And how does doubting that 3D will work have anything to do with the game? I was just stating my reasons for believing that 3D will not work in video gaming.

At this current time, 3d for gaming i smeh. But its also "brand new" in the sense outside of pc games theres arent really any xbox/ps3 ones. After a couple games where devs can really learn what works and what doesnt i see 3d being a lot more practical and better off. I know anantech itself did a review of the nvidia 3d and it seemed pretty decent. Some clipping issues and bugs to work out. But they gave rave review for tron with all 3d menus and stuff.
