I have never played the COD series but am really looking forward to this game. I loved SOCOM on the PS2 and wished the multiplayer was better. COD4 has all of the things I loved about SOCOM and even more.

The gameplay looks fantastic and the perks feature really adds to the game. I really wish there was cross-platform multiplayer. I plan on buying an Xbox360 soon and am not sure which one I will get.

Trailers for the lazy...

Perks gameplay
Sniper!
Shhh... We huntin' wabbits

My old room mates were lucky enough to get into the beta testing for the 360.. I was over at their house a few times watching it.. It was pretty badass, you could actually have bullets go through walls and kill people.

I won't be buying it as long as it will work with my modded 360... but I sure will be playing it!

I won't be buying it. IMO, the COD franchise just isn't fun. Granted it is not as bad as the dynasty warriors series, but still, every COD game is essentially the same. You are some soldier blah blah, caught up on some different battle. You have to assault a bunch of things on your own and save your friends or the war effort... cue heroic yet sad music.... next level. I don;t expect COD4 to be any different.

Of course, I think most first person shooters out there are just plain boring nowadays, because they all follow the same generic mold. Indeed, aside from Far Cry, I can't think of a pure FPS that has actually implemented some form of open ended gameplay. And although far cry provided many different options for attacking a given objective, it still limited how you could get to things by 'funneling" the player to a given point.

Most definitely - Probably the game I'm most looking forward to this year after spending a lot of time with the beta.

I got a little caught up in Halo this past weekend, so I didn't get a chance to play when they raised the level cap the last time, but up until that point I loved just about all of my time spent playing.

soxfan: 1) Red Sox I hope? 😀 2) Are you, or have you been a fan of CoD Multiplayer at all? That is where this game will really thrive - I can't speak for the single player as the beta was MP only, but the MP alone is enough to warrant a purchase IMO...!

Wow, looks like the majority of people are buying for Xbox... Damn. I wanted to pick it up for PS3 because it will be released before I buy my 360. Decisions decisions.

Does it have coop multiplayer over XBoxLive? No? Well, that is your answer.

FYI - Your poll needs a 'No' option.

Never got into any of the other call of duties. But this one looks interesting. I plan on trying a demo on the PC, if they have one.

If they put out a demo I'll give it a shot. Couldn't get in on the beta, and thought the first 3 COD's were just, well, ok at best. Just straight run and guns, felt way too easy.

Hell yeah as I am looking forward to this way more than Halo 3. I was extremely letdown by Halo 3 single player, and the damn matchmaking pisses me off in mp. Why in the hell can I not browse a list of custom made nonranked games? I am sick of the same old shit on their playlists.

PC for me. Time to put my E6850 and 2900pro to work. Plus, I hate playing FPS on my 360 without my trackball and KB. Plus, i'm sure the PC version will be cheaper. 🙂
