I just don't understand it.
Heres what happens. I'll load call of duty, and go search for servers. works great, finds who knows how many servers.
go into a server, and play for a little. i'll decide to change servers a little later.
go back to the browser, search, and it starts "searching" thru thousands of servers and nothing comes up. refresh it 5 or 6 times, i'll be lucky if 50 servers come up.
i've reinstalled the game 4 times, patched it to 1.6, and then 1.7 each time.
the other issue it has is sometimes I'll try to connect to a server, and it just sits at this screen saying "verifying Key" or something of the like. about 30 seconds later it'll say "server connection timeout", basically saying it couldn't connect. It'll drop me back to the main menu, where I'll go to refresh the server list again, and then nothing comes up even though it'll search like 4000 servers.
My key is valid, and i've had it for like a year now.
I'm thinking about just getting a PCI Express network card and forgetting about the onboard network controllers but I don't know if thats actually the problem and I'm not pissing away $20 if its not going to fix it...
I've reinstalled the chipset drivers, and I've uninstalled the Forceware Access manager (which was DOUBLING my ping on COD4 servers that actually worked)
