Call of Duty 4: Is there a way to play back through past sequences

I've played through a few of the campaigns and would like to go back and show some friends some of the action from previous sequences. But when I tried to do this it deleted my forward progress past the point I went back to. Is there a way to go back and replay a portion and then still be able to go ahead to the point you had progressed to?

I've done this in Crysis several times to show people parts of the game but for some reason can't find a way to do this in CoD4.
 
Once you've completed the entire SP campaign you can go back and do whatever mission you want. It shouldn't take too long; the SP campaign is quite short.
 
ARCADE MODE!! Hurry up and finish the SP Campaign! Then you get to run amuck in whichever level you want, while being scored at the same time! I'm having tons of fun with Arcade Mode. 🙂
