That should be enough... I think it's probably your video card. Try turning down your settings.

Do you have the latest drivers for your 9800 Pro?

What resolutions are you running?

Make sure you aren't using AA (Anti-aliasing). Lower texture quality to a few notches below max. Lower the resolution to 1024x768 or even 800x600.

Turn off dynamic lights and shadows and try the /com_hunksize 512 trick... that nearly doubled my frames/sec. But in your case, the video card is likely the bottleneck so that probably won't help.

Be sure you are running dx7 and not dx9. I just heard about the hunksize trick today and plan to try it out when I get home to see if it makes dx9 more playable for me in MP or not. Works great in single player but I get really bogged in mp.

I ran the demo at 800x600 this weekend, which is what their setup said was optimal for my config. Also consider changing the audio down in resolution. Audio processing can be a big drain and many folks ignore it when trying to increase playability.

There is a BIG difference between the demo and the real game.

Fingolfin,
let me know how that hunksize command works. I'm running at 1024x768, no shadows, no AA, and it still 'feels' laggy in multiplayer, but in single player it runs beautiful at much higher detail settings. I haven't tried running it in Directx 7 mode though, just 9 so far.
