Call of Duty 2 demo to be released very shortly? (i.e. before the end of the night)

COD2 sucks.... I am sorry, Medal of Honor Pacific Assault blows this away. Graphics look old and horrible. Come on this is pathatic. DoD:S blows this pos game away. This has to be one of the worst WW2 games I have played yet. DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR BUY THIS GAME!

I don't think they look *that* great either. The models are very polygoned and the textures have inconsistent mipmaps. Why are the ones up front all blurred out while the ones far out are grainy as hell? The scene looks fullbright. The tank model and smoke are absolutely incredible though. The sky also looks very good, and the aircraft looks good. The guns are OK. The geometry is way too consistent to be considered realistic (just like every other game I've seen in my life). The model of the guy's arm isn't that impressive either, absolutely hair-less. The one guy's hand looks like something I'd cut for a Christmas ornament in 3rd grade. Distance rendering is well conveyed (accurate Z and everything). The gun models have amazing detail but the general structure of them doesn't seem like anything real. The structures are way too "straight" without any signs of damage whatsoever. Otherwise, not bad. It doesn't particularly stand out though. It does look a tad better (and runs better) than Battlefield 2 IMO.

I remember getting my broadband connection right at the time the original COD came out, and i've been a big fan ever since. This latest addition to the pedigree is an absolute awe to behold graphically and experientially its as fun and engrossing as its forebear.

I love the way your squadmates have their own personalites, and the lovingly detailed and crafted levels, weapons, and in-game effects.

I also played DOD:S today and had an equally fun time online. Both games seem stellar to me, well worth playing. Its a great time to be a WW-II FPS gamer.

Im pissed i didnt see this thread earlier. Ive been fighting the frikken game download sites. I waited 20 minutes w/o registering, than thought, meh ill register... 50 minute line, but i missed my 5 minute window and had to get to the back of the line (another 60 minutes) accidently hit back midway through the line (another 60 minute wait) this time i made it, but downloaded only at a steady 38kbs

I don't know you guys but at Normal quality, no AA, the COD2 demo's graphics is meh (majority of the textures are horrible IMO) and the framerate is crap (10-25fps) as well. COD1 looks better and runs much faster even with 6xAA to boot. There seems to be a trend of poorer and poorer coding from developers these days.

OOOOOR he could be right even though in this case it is his machine. The fact is devs are getting lazy and it's hurting the consumer. I've seen benchies on a 7800GTX and even it struggled, this is a sure sign of poor optimization no matter how you look at it.

ok, just downloaded, installed and played this fantastic game. I love the idea of no health bar. you actually have to be in tune with your character to know how much health is left. woot! I like the enhanced visuals. I put everything up to max at 1280x1024 (usually game at 1600x1200, but it was only a test at lower resolutions), and it looks so crisp! THe clouds and smoke, holy crap, they are nice. One note: DO NOT trust the "recommended settings"... you can go a good 2x AA and bilinear->trilinear no prob

Just played a few minutes worth. Wow - best smoke effects ever. I'll be getting this one once it's released. It was a bit choppy on my system though - hopefully I'll have a big CRT by then so I don't have to play at 1600x1200.
