There are 1,000's of schools in the USA.

Just go to school in some other states where the cost of living is lower like Ohio, Utah, Nevada, Texas. This is all made up phony baloney. Kick all the illegals out of school. People who are from some other country should have to pay like 4 times the normal tuition rate.

When a state or location becomes overpopulated this kind of thing is normal. Then with rampant illegal migration it becomes even worse.

Build a few more schools. Cut the wages of administrators. Build more community colleges. Dont expect a free ride from the government. If there is a greater need then obviously there are more people willing to pay for college.

This takes planning. The community college I work for has expended several times since I started working there. We built a new science building, a new math building, a new Nursing building, a new Dental Training complex and also expanded Community Education Centers and a High School Partnership program offering college classes in High Schools.

The state is only paying a portion for College expansions. You have to seek contributions from places like Hospitals, corporations, local businesses, and state and federal grants. There is money out there and scholarships, but you have to be good at things like grant writing.

Ok, well then consider 32 a start in that direction because it puts the voter ahead of the power houses.

Believe me, I'm with you on shooting down most propositions as they're usually jumps in spending or taxation but as time has stacked those against us, we need to start reversing these processes.

I haven't seen post-2004 data, but California pays $1 in federal taxes for every $0.81 received in federal funds. So overall California is a money source, not a sink, compared to other states. California's making to taking ratio is better than all but eight other states. Incidentally, those eight other states will most likely all be voting blue this year.

That isn't relevant, what is relevant is unions shouldn't be able to take money from my paycheck to give to politicians that I do not support without my permission.

It's completely relevant. We have a completely f'ed up proposition system where a few rich guys which mountains of cash can try to gum up the political works. The Koch brothers have no right to interfere in how CA operates politically.

Unions spend money to protect their interests. You may not agree with the people they support but those people do support the unions.

I should be able to decide what politicians get my money, not the unions. The unions head spend money to protect them self, not the members. The unions have contributed far more to defeat 32 than any outside groups, most of which came from people who were forced to give to the union.

First, Prop. 32 eliminates the union’s voice completely. Only unions collect dues through payroll deductions NOT corporations. There is a system with in every union that governs the tiny percent of the dues that go to politics and every member has the right to opt out. However, The language in Prop. 32 continues to state that even if money is collected through voluntary practices the union cannot use the money for any political purpose or communicate with their members regarding politics. Second the language of prop. 32 states it will stop pay to play. It only stops it during the bidding process, than corporations can go back to giving moneys. It doesn’t stop Corporate Super PAC’s, Wal-Mart, which is not a corporation, Anti union Billionaire CEOs, or 501 4c non profits that don’t even have to report to the FFC who gave them money. Even the Chamber of Commerce can give unlimited amounts of money to their special interests. Let’s talk Chamber of Commerce, their attorneys and members attend every MSHA, OSHA or CAL OSHA hearing I have every attended fighting to stop or repeal health and safety laws that protect workers. Yeah , that’s the folks I want to decide my working conditions and pay.

They don't. You have the right to opt out of having any portion of your dues used for political purposes. IIRC, you have to fill out the form annually, but if it's such a big deal, just STFU and do it. Then you can be "union politics free."

The bottom line is union members have the ability TODAY to opt out of having their dues go to political purposes. I don't care if that's a convoluted process, go take that up with your union and work to get it resolved. The answer is NOT to wholesale abolish the union's voice in politics.

If we're going to do this right, we take ALL corporate/union money out at the same time.
