California

Why do people around here disike it so much? What are your reasons? Stupid drivers? I thought those were everywhere. Or do they have a special kind in CA

Maybe the fact that is costs SOOO FVCKING MUCH to live there. That's the only thing that bothers me about Socal - other than that, I loved it 🙂

High cost of living.

The general self absorbed, isolationist attitude of the people. So many seem unaware there is an entire world outside of SoCal.

The population density.

Traffic. (Two of the most congested freeways in the country are the 101 and 405).

If 2/3 of the people left CA, I would consider moving back to my birthplace.

I don't think its too unreasonable.. considering they are the fifth largest single economy in the world.. and now over 35million people living there..

I can't wait to go back, thats for sure.

Moved to Southbay coming up on 2 years now. I like it alright, yeah its fuuking expensive compared to Colorado or Texas, but more and more people move in every year... can't be all bad. Weather is nice, chicks are nice, people are in general relaxed enough, CHIPs is off my nuts about doing 80mph on the highway, getting Grass is relatively easy (although more expensive than CO), good bands are always coming through... only thing i really don't like? Having to drive 20min-1hour to get anywhere... SO spread out.

I was born and raised there. Yes, it is unreasonable.

Having visited CA dozens of times over the years, I'll tell you why:

1. Traffic. My god the traffic in CA...
2. Pollution. I don't enjoy feeling like I'm in a smoky saloon EVERYWHERE.
3. Cost of Living. CA is just too expensive, especially when you consider #2.

California is a wonderful state to visit, but I'd never live there.

because they refuse to build powerplants and then bitch that other states are charging them too much

thats just one thing, but it epitomizes the ideology that i despise

Let's not forget about the 10 and 60 freeways as well. 😛

It is somwhat crowded but other than that I love it. I bought my home 6 years ago in San Diego so I have a low monthly mortgage payment. Some things are expensive, taxes, gasoline, insurance is probably a little higher but it's not that bad really. Housing is probably the worst for someone moving here from somewhere else.

Can't beat the weather and there are few pesky insects. God I hated mosquitos and black flies in upstate NY during the summer...they are freaking everywhere.

The bay area in CA had the worst drivers I have ever encountered. I live in NJ, have driven in NY, and have endured the traffic in LA, but bay area drivers are the most uncoordinated, unaware drivers I've ever seen. It seems that they come up behind you and then stay in your blind spot. I don't know what it is about the place, but I found that it was very common for a driver to cruise along side you in your blind spot. Also, the people seemed to be oblivious to stop signs, yield signs, any signs. They tended to look the wrong way when turning.

It was as if you gave a million people a license that have never driven a car before and seem incapable of learning.

Yeah, CA can be bad. But try Ohio for a bit. Makes CA look like expert drivers.

I enjoy Nor Cal alot. I dont think I would ever move further south then Santa Cruz, and even thats pushing it alot. Stay noth of San Francisco and you are good. Still $600,000 for a decent house up here (Santa Rosa).

Although noth of Petaluma there isnt much for the tech industry.
