What part about Texas doesn't have low taxes is too difficult for some of the posters here to understand? Hell, its property tax rates are probably the highest in the country. Obviously, some people here don't let pesky things like facts and truth get in the way of their ideology.

You missed that part about cost of living. Try again.

Cost of living is lower in Texas than California. You fail at reality.

Property taxes are high here, but housing is inexpensive.

/facepalm

Has it not already been demonstrated in this thread that income is also lower in Texas than California? Almost identically lower as cost of living. Why yes, it has. Gee... I wonder if there's a correlation. And I wonder if the fact that you've ignored that has to do with willful obtuseness on behalf on your beloved lone star state or just plain ol' fucking stupidity... hmm...

Yeah, I would.

Low cost of living doesn't mean shit when incomes are similarly low. High tax rates OTOH are universal.

Once again, California is not screwed up because of any ideology. It is screwed up because it has a shitty constitution. Period.

Well, as an Oregonian, I'm not particularly fond of Californians. Bunch of bitchy little girls. Nosy busybodies who can't mind their business.
Texans OTOH are deluded in the belief that their own shit smells like roses, and it's everyone else's shit that stinks.

As far as property taxes go, it is a good trade off. People can afford a house here, even with the high taxes.

But it does appear at the very least Texas is doing more things right than right California and California is doing more things wrong than Texas. People and business and leaving California.

Oh that's not to say that there aren't plenty of irritating things about California, just that it's current woes are pretty much 100% attributable to the retarded budget/proposition process.

Even with all the irritations though, it's an amazing place. I love it here. Oregon's a great state too though, Portland being one of my all time favorite cities.
