So we all know newegg has the best deals and prices and selection on the net.

And we get to pay sales tax!!

Who is the closest to newegg that is NOT in California?

See, I've been looking for places that are outside CA just to avoid sales taxes but nobody could seem to match Newegg's combination of awesome prices, service and fast/cheap shipping. Stores in CA would have the advantage since Los Angeles is the port of entry for imports coming from Asia, where virtually all PC parts are made.

Yep, but Googlegear is in CA too. So is Mwave.

I've bought a lot of stuff from Micro Pro in the past and have never had a problem. They have good prices and service but they don't carry that many brands like NewEgg, Mwave, Googlegear and Atacom do.

I buy from Newegg and live in Calif. It's worth it to me to pay for the tax because I get excellent service from Newegg. They are reliable, ship fast, plus it gets to me very quickly because they ship from SoCal and I'm in LA. They are worth ordering from if you live in california, with tax and shipping.

I think http://www.axiontech.com/ is supposed to be reliable. They are in Texas. I haven't ordered from them though. I compare them to Newegg and get comparable prices at Newegg and go with the safe bet and order from Newegg

Ha, ha! That's what makes living in Arizona nice. Anything from California is tax free, and UPS ground never takes more than 3 days. another good source located in upstate NY is Compu-Plus. They have excellent HDD prices and selection.

Yeah, I buy from newegg and I live in Los Angeles. The shipping is super fast so it worth the tax. They have excellent service. I buy most of my hardware from them =)

When it comes down to it, newegg's low prices offset the taxes you have to pay, so I end up buying from newegg as well. Plus, you get your stuff super fast since they are so close.

I live in California and I order from Newegg as well. You don't save much if any by going out-of-state, and since you know Newegg has the best prices, why not just pay the sales taxes since it benefits our state after all?

kinda depends on how much $$ you're spendin'. taxes can bite you!;)

tcwo-flat rate shipping:D(very nice for multiple items) in FL-where I live:(.
axiontech - TX good prices, stable company.
fticomputer - NY good prices, most peeps I talk to love them, seems like there are a couple that hate them.
ncix - BC be sure to go to the US part of the site. ;), have heard only good things, never ordered from them.
newegg - CA eat the taxes:p

pricewatch and resellerratings and/or AT vendor ratings

I thought I'd go around and price my wanted rig at a number of the places so we get an idea of costs.

This is what I'm looking for:
1) Abit BD7-II
2) 3200 DDR Ram
3) 128mb 4200 w/dvi
4) P4 1.6 A Retail

This is what I found:

Newegg:
1) 117.00
2) 186.00
3) 172.00
4) 140.00
total: 615.00 + tax (7.5% in Sonoma) = 661.13

Axion Tech:
1) 128.95
2) 177.95
3) 203.95
4) 158.95
total: 669.80 (more than newegg .. shiping may make the difference)

Comp-U-Plus:
1) 115.00
2) 133.00 (do NOT carry pc 3200 highest they go is 2700 "major brand" ram)
3) 175.00
4) 149.00
total: 572.00 (not pc 3200)

Essential Computer Inc:
1) 115.00
2) 149.00 (again no pc 3200 just 2700 but here it is "OCZ" ram w/heat spreader)
3) 185.00
4) 145.00
total: 626.00 (no 3200)

Then what I did was go to price watch and compared the lowest prices NON CA based places. NOTE: I used the delivered costs so these include shipping.

1) 126.00 (Beyond Computer Inc.)
2) 180.00 (PC Progress)
3) 152.95 (FTIComputer.com)
4) 142.69 (CBWNet)
total: 601.64 DELIVERED. So with lowest pricewatch CA residents save ~$60 and shiping. So I'm gona say ~$75 or... 13%

Now what would you choose Decide on? The most interesting thing I found was that some of the above companies had lower than price watch scores but don't register on pricewatch. Hmmmm....

I duno!

yeah, but then again it's also like 120 degrees there! ;)

Anyway I still like newegg even being in LA. I can pay for the 3 day shipping and all my shipments usually arrive almost overnight.
