Too bad.... parts of California are seriously beautiful.

Indeed. We lived in the Modesto area for 25 years. DEFINITELY NOT one of the beautiful parts...but 2 hours to Yosemite, 2 hours to Monterey, about 4 hours to Sequoia/Kings Canyon or Tahoe. There are SOME things I miss there...but more I don't. (traffic, crime, high housing costs, high gas prices, high energy costs.)

I've been in CA three times, once as a passenger, twice as a driver. Latest was in about '98 and that WILL be my last.

Among other things that bugged me was the lack of mile markers. I rely on those heavily and barely knew where I was without them.
Since 98, there is this thing called Google Maps, or there is Waze, and probably others.

Most of the people in eastern MA are driving "nice" (read, performance, in many cases) cars as well, so that tends to be self-selecting towards those that enjoy driving, and driving well. Not too many beaters, this changes as you head west in the state.

this is funny though, cuz I’m from western MA, and have been driving out east as of late and was thinking to myself have aggressive and reckless the people seemed to be. 🙃

we’re all massholes though, it’s in the blood!

The world is NOT getting more relaxed and life isn't getting any easier.

It's reflected on the road in peoples driving right now.... things are tense and not only in Mass.
