It's not about the tool, it's about the outdoor experience.

Why so angry? They're not limiting hunting or fishing.

Let's face it, CA democrats won't rest until this is the only legal gun remaining, and all else is banned:

I'm finding it extremely ironic that the vast majority of new gun legislation is taking place in states that already had strict gun control.

Actually, they are. "Assault rifles" are used in 50% of mass shootings.

Actually, "Assault rifles" are used in 0% of mass shootings, and that's not a made up % either.

Semi-automatic rifles maybe have been used in several though.

Pray tell though, how many gun related homicides a year are committed and what % of them are perpetrated by rifles vs pistols?

I only really care about random shootings of random strangers. I don't care if two rival drug dealers shoot each other up, or some guy decides to kill himself with his guns. I only care when some psycho shoots people who have done nothing to him.

Alright, that's 21 nutjobs who went on killing sprees last year; in the entire country, not just California. Now how many people own semi-automatic rifles that accept detachable magazines?

How many fishing rods have killed random people in public areas?

Answer my question. Not that I expect you to, you can't (truthfully) without completely invalidating your argument.

Here's a hint, most semi-automatic rifles nowadays, and that's a genre that goes FAR beyond the scary black rifles, use magazines. This legislation would actually stand a good chance of being defeated by the Supreme Court as Heller protects guns that "are in common use", and you don't get much more common than a Ruger 10-22, among others.

Who the fuck said that?

I sometimes enjoy building stuff but personally I'll keep my cordless drill, rotary tools, and various other power tools versus going after the old fashioned "experience".

Awesome. Then why don't we arm everyone like the old wild west? You'd quite literally have no problem with this. Don't even try to say you would, you just admitted to not caring about two people with guns shooting at each other.

Have any of those tools ever been used to slaughter a room full of 1st graders?

Yes. As sad as it is that they are pushing for this sort of legislation it is worse that they are doing so when anyone who isn't wearing blinders can see it is unconstitutional.

And exactly how much better would you feel if said psycho used gasoline to trap a bunch of random kids who have done him nothing in their school while they burn to death instead of using an evil black gun?

Or are you seriously arguing that psychos will no longer do psycho shit if they don't have legal access to evil black rifles?

I live in CA and this is ridiculous.

I'm pretty much going to have to bury my toys and wait for this to go to the supreme court and hopefully get completely shot down. We really need a huge case to break all this insane bull regarding individual states and their ability to regulate firearms rights and codify a overall understanding that states cannot legislate restrictions and infringements upon this right.
