I think the wording in your original thread was perfectly accurate, but understand others view it as inflammatory.

FOr the format here, it's probably best to have 'yes' and 'no' in the poll and then to correctly describe that 'yes' is a vote for bigotry in the post.

I didn't vote for it (sent in my ballot already) or against it. It's my vote, I could care less what you think of it. Call me a bigot, I don't care.

I'm for rights of gay/lesbian couples in civil unions. It's not an issue that has any sort of significance to the well being of the society. Marriage is just a name, and when 50% of marriages fail I don't see why anyone would be so hell bent on making everybody "equal".

I'd like to think that we have evolved beyond the Ahmadinejad styled views on gays in California. IMHO the anti-gay sentiments belong in overly religious 3rd world shit hole nations and in red states. So I will be voting no on it.

I am not claiming you a bigot. I am stating that the bigots are the one that are so scared that they feel they have to control others lives. they refuse to look at what their actions are.

If the CA measure fails (as it should) then their will be less pressure against others to overturn Ma & Conn plus other states may be willing to remove that prejudice within their systems.

Get enough states with open eyes and the stupid Federal law can be removed. that can be one good things the liberals can do - bring this issue forward.

Because not everyone lives in California. The question implies that you're living in California and/or can vote for Proposition 8. You could have separate choices for those outside of the state to see how they would vote without skewing the California vote.

Mostly because marriage should be between two people, not two opposite-sex people. These people who argue semantics (and btw, that includes McCain and Obama) over marriage stand on a weak argument. I find it akin to Southern slaveowners who justified that their black slaves shouldn't be freed just because a good solid block of black slaves did not necessarily desire full freedom nor did they feel abused or mistreated. But fact is, it was the right thing to do, and gay marriage will turn out exactly the same way, no question about it.
