When a liberal sees a sign like that he thinks to himself, good reminder. In this world full of environmental problems the one thing I can do to make a difference is adjust as best I can on a personal level.

When a conservative sees a sign like this he says to himself, those fucking liberals are trying to guilt trip me about using gas.

I know, wouldn't that be great? :D

Maybe we need stickers on refrigeration appliances, cars, every tree that could be cut down, every chemical fertilizer, cow's butts and every human on earth.

Close. A conservative sees a sign like that and thinks "what idiot doesn't know that?".

Dear California:

Stop, You've become a laughingstock.

First they laugh at you...
We are used to it, and we know that sooner or later, the rest of the country will do it our way, just like gay marriage.

Massachusetts just elected a Republican to replace Deval Patrick, and shot down an expanded bottle deposit ballot question by 2:1 or so.

Y'all go ahead and conduct some more of your social experiments. We'll just hang back and take notes.

When a liberal sees a sign like that he thinks to himself, good reminder. In this world full of environmental problems the one thing I can do to make a difference is adjust as best I can on a personal level. I have perfectly justifiable reasons for every drop of gas I use and can't reduce my consumption, but maybe this will make those stupid deniers believe in global warming and starting cutting their consumption.

When a conservative sees a sign like this he says to himself, those fucking liberals are trying to guilt trip me about using gas. what a waste of money.

I believe the above is more accurate.

That's pretty damn accurate :D

These labels, though, they have absolutely nothing to do with current adult population. They, I'm willing to bet, are more intended to be the first bit of information young children are exposed to on the subject, and therefore what they are more likely to believe as they grow older.

Do you think people in California will purchase a smaller car or drive less?

This is like trying to sell an electric mower.

Meh...they've had the Prop 65 "chemicals found on this site may cause cancer" warnings on gas pumps for decades.

I'm sure these stickers will be extremely effective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Well worth the cost to implement and enforce.

Ubiquitous reminders are useless; they become part of the background noise. Gas pumps already have a bunch of warning labels no one reads. One more will be one more no one will read.

how many people have actually read the instructions on a gas pump?

<--- did, once, now knows to leave the nozzle in the receptacle for at least 3 seconds to let the vapor recovery system function

I'm generally liberal, but it's not terribly hard to find examples of liberal politicians treating their constituents as though they're fucking morons. How patronizing is it to label everything? "Well, I got elected because I firmly believe that everyone in my town is a slack-jawed troglodyte without the brain cells necessary to form even the most basic of thoughts and they need my brilliance to keep them from lighting themselves on fire or throwing themselves off of tall objects because they don't understand gravity or whatever." Or do they actually think that people are going to see these signs and think, "Shit, I guess I better not go in to work today. Gotta save that environment!" Like people are burning gas for a lark and not because they have shit to do... What a stupid fucking law.

No, just more fuzzy wuzzy for your ego. You have a CBD and are not capable of objective thinking. I do appreciate the fact that you said it's what you believe. Most associate what they believe to be reality when it is only the damaged ego trying to rectify that condition.

You are going to die and you know it and if the moment was now and you had time to reflect on your life you would find you have regrets that you didn't express enough love. What one knows and remembers to live by and what one knows and forgets to practice may be the very same piece of knowledge. Let me remind you of that even if it is something that surely everybody knows.

You don't understand. Only you can prevent forest fires. Only you can do what only you can do. You can put that to the fore of your consciousness or you can go around all agitated and excited by the fact that a community attempt to raise community awareness is condescension because a part of you believes you're inferior and being reminded of something stimulates that feeling. It is only the change in the awareness of people that can change the world. Self-haters always feel threatened by change because it tells them they feel no good as they are and they want to deny it. This is why it is only the selfless that ever grow emotionally. They don't have a need to deny.

Just like California to do something like this. After all, many there still believe guns still kill people. Just look at those laws.

I believe the above is more accurate.

And yes, you absolutely hit that one out of the park.
