Bring it!

If it happens in the daytime all the better so I can get the full effect. I would hate to sleep through a solid 6!

Worst I've been through is a 5.6 so far.

Yeah right. Think we dont have building codes here too?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_ground_acceleration

The 6.3 hit 2.2g's, your 1994 quake hit 1.7g's and killed 57 people injuring 8000, doing $20bn damage - and was 'only' a 6.7

Last months quake was almost in the city and only 5kms deep, theres more to it than just its magnitude.

Umm 57<166 people killed. 166 is probably the total population over there and your quake was $12billion which is probably the entire GDP for NZ. $20 billion in damage is like 3 pot holes over here.

Japan just hit with an 7.8 (now 8.8?) quake. I think Dave is vindicated here! Granted its like 10,000 miles away but that's not important! $7 milk here we come!

You know why we have so much earthquakes in California? It's because Chuck Norris is walking on the surface. You'd be quaking too.

OK, wrong side of the Pacific plate and higher than I thought but I knew a big one was about to hit.

My analysis model works pretty darn well considering I don't have access to the big boys equipment.

No one can refute I knew a big one was imminent.

The data is in black and white for history to see.

Ah, so the criteria was anything within 5,500 miles? I was not aware some place name The Geysers was located outside Tokyo.

According to wikipedia there are ~120 magnitude 6.x earthquakes worldwide per year. So over 4 weeks you'd expect 9 of them to happen if you count any earthquake anywhere on Earth as being exactly the same as your prediction of one happening in a specific part of California.

That's some fine police work there Lou.

Your prediction was as accurate as mine was.

Will you claim you were right if a 5.0 earthquake hits Chile 3 months from now?

I was wrong about the size; so were you.
I was wrong about the location; so were you.
I was wrong about the date, and I'll grant that you correctly predicted that a 6.0+ earthquake would happen somewhere on earth within 4 weeks of your prediction (nevermind that there are a dozen 6.0s someone on earth each month)

My analysis model worked pretty well though considering that I'm not a raving lunatic like you are. I correctly predicted that you would take credit for predicting an earthquake despite getting all of the details wrong.

The data is in black and white for your psychiatrists to see.

Thanks for the unintended hilarity.

Arnie != Chuck. I'm pretty sure Chuck doesn't live in CA.

Oh, and Much != Many.

The joke was done a lot better long ago on Conan's old show. He had someone impersonate Arnie with his mouth super-imposed over an Arnie picture while they discussed his bid for governor (yes; that old). When asked what he would do about the earthquakes, he said that he would get them in a headlock and say "Who's quaking naow?!"

Can we start referring to Dave as Wiggum on these boards? that way, we can talk about him behind his back when he's still in the room!

The Conan O'Brien TV "celebrity mouth interview" was probably the best Late Night TV bit since Carson. Man--Don King, Arnie, Johnnie Cochran, Clinton, Sharpton--that shit was so damn awesome!

Way to go stereotype American there. Die in a shitstorm quake for all i care.

Way to go stereotype New Zealander there.

What is it with all the Kiwis acting condescending to Americans on ATOT and expecting to be welcomed with open arms and raging all over the place when they are not? Does everyone there act like this?

It's that time again

Some area called the Geysers.

My brother-in-law is a contractor with the USGS.

They get tons of earthquake "predictions" every day.

One of these predictions will eventually be "right". But there is no way to predict which prediction it will be.

"Even a broken [non-digital] clock is right twice a day."

I agree. LOVED 'EM! I also loved the green-screen bits where he'd drive the desk around places using a disconnected steering wheel and stock or staged video footage behind him.

The prediction that earthquakes happen on earth is quite bold, quite bold indeed.
