CALGARY: Heading to the finals!!!!!!

I personally would like to puke (in an internet fashion, of course). The refs took the wings outta the series in games 3 and 4. I don't know what happened with Vancouver. These thug-lites need to lose to whatever team from the East prevails. I like Tampa Bay because they have skill; I doubt most of the Calgary players can spell skill. Anywho, Philly is a better opponent than Tampa Bay as they can more than match the Calgary Flukes thug-like play. I like Tampa Bay but I detest Calgary so if Philly beats TB I have no remorse. Iginla will play for another team in a couple years after the holding/hooking non-calls are eliminated from the league. :disgust:

One hit wonders...

You gotta pay your dues in the playoffs (over the years) before winning the cup. The Flames will lose in the finals...

Not so different than Anaheim, Carolina, Washington, Florida, etc. of years past. Then next year, they won't make much of a showing, if any at all.

Who was the last Canadian team?

Edmonton?

Montreal in '93, I believe (to win the cup that is) The Canucks lost to the Rangers in the finals in the same time frame, it might have been before but I think it was after. I don't remember any canadian team making it to the finals since then.

What if the Lightning win tomorrow night? Neither team will have paid their dues and one will have to win 😛 😉

go leafs... 🙁 im rooting for calgary though now. a calgary/tampa final would be good for hockey. quite the contrast with the defensive hockey that dominated a few years back...

Well, at least they were in the playoffs last year. 😉

Cancuks vs. Rangers in '92.

I don't want to thread-crap, but I think the concept of Canadian or American team is symbolic only. Seriously, all teamd are like 1/3 euro, 1/3 canadian and 1/3 american.

13 out of 23 are Canadian, not that it means much.

I think that was 94 actually.

You are correct, sir. One of the very best Stanley Cup playoffs ever (even though I was rooting for Vancouver to win.)

Skill ? Look at these teams... there's nothing that would point to why teams win cups any longer. This isn't the Wayne Gretzky era where you have time and space to find the short side corner of the net on a 2-on-1 every rush down the ice.

It's hard work, dedication, and motivation that gets you there. For that, I hope Calgary takes it all the way. Tampa also deserves to win because they've played a great team game all year long... but for now, Calgary is riding this wave they call emotion. In the playoffs, that matters most - they're skating their @$$es off.

<-- ready to ride the wave for his own 24-hour ice hockey tournament tomorrow. 😀

It's impossible to argue that Calgary hasn't outworked Vancouver, Detroit, and San Jose.

As someoe else said.......... "Golf Sharks Golf" 😉

Calgary is like the Vancouver of 82 & 94. Not a whole lot of very elite talented players but they play a wicked team game. I hope TB gets in the finsal........ then we will see a very good final 😀

Cheers,
Aquaman

Very true. Take the Flyers for example. Primeau carried that team on his BACK, but alas.. it was Tampa's TEAMWORK that finished off the series.

The days of superstar forwards, beat-em-up goons and breakdancing goalies are behind us. You have to have a fast passing push, strong defensive forwards and defensemen that aren't afraid to enter the opponent's zone to score a few. Totally different game, but much more exciting in my opinion.

No because Calgary is a bunch of no talent lucky goons.
So outworking every team in the league, makes you a no talent goon?

Tampa's goin down!

Calm down there. MOST of the game has been in Calgary's defensive zone and the one goal was a deflection off a skate.

Both teams are playing very well, but it's too early to say who's "going down."
