Calculating Average

AIWGuru

Banned
I've always had some really good grades and so haven't bothered to calculate my average.
I'm taking a very difficult course at the moment and I would like to calculate my current average.
I'm not a math whiz. I know how to calculate an average if all values are weighed equally but since they're not in this case, I have no idea.
Would anyone be able enlighten me?
Here are my marks and how they are weighed:
D1: 6/10
D4: pending - this isn't due yet /10
D3: still being marked /10
1a: 2.2/2.2
1b: 4.4/7.8
A2: 9.5/10
A3: 9.6/15
A4: still being marked /15
A5: pending - this isn't due yet /20

Thanks to anyone who can help me out!

Oh my god. I could have just added them up. I was trying to figure out some elaborate way to get the different weightings into an average. Sometimes the obvious alludes me. I'm not having a good day!
Thanks a lot for your help.

You must have been at some kind of retard school.

No. In retard school they teach you to be needlessly rude when you are not attacked. Sound like any Chump in this thread?

Canada's Top Comprehensive University, actually.

I was stuck in the rut of trying to average a percentage the assignments which were weighed at a different percentage of the final mark than the others. I didn't actually write the numerical grades (not expressed as a percentage) until I made this thread. It's easy to get stuck like that.
As if you've never had a brainfart.
Your comments are not productive or welcome.
Go crap on someone else's thread.

Well half the assignments don't have a grade... and you never indicated how much each was weighed... unless that is the 1a, 1b, etc stuff, which doesn't make any sense in the first place.

Actually, I did. Notice how it says, for example, 10/15. Since all of the denominators add up to 100, you might have deduced that said number indicates how it's weighted. Since I was asking for my CURRENT average you would ignore the unmarked assignments. It makes perfect sense which is why someone was able to answer it accurately and politely

That's not a funny joke. What school did you go to? What were your grades? Did you make the Dean's list? Or are you still in high school?

isn't that what he said??

... in all seriousness, though, what exactly makes a school "comprehensive" as opposed to just "regular" universities like u of Toronto or McGill or even waterloo?

To answer your question, you could have simply clicked on the link provided and then the huge lettering in the centre of the page 😉
Here's another link which saves you a click. 🙂

"Maclean?s defines comprehensive universities as those with a significant amount of research activity and a wide range of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its two other categories are medical/doctoral and primarily undergraduate. The magazine uses 23 indicators to measure overall quality within six general themes: student body, classes, faculty, finances, library and reputation. U of G maintained or improved last year?s strong performance in 16 of the categories, including:"

Incidentally, this is my second degree that I'm working on. My first was from the University of Ottawa and while it (Ottawa) is not a comparable comprehensive school, I would say that I find the quality of the atmosphere and faculty at the University of Guelph to be superior.

Regarding this guy's insulting comment:
I'm not sure I'm going to bother visiting a site which has such asshole members.

Of course, MacLean's publishes its extensive Canadian University Guide every year and it's very well respected and is the standard. My current Girlfriend, who is from Barbados used it to choose her school from out of country.

This particular paragraph is what interests me most as it pertains to job prospects:
"Maclean?s also published a reputational survey based on comments solicited from 11,612 people across the country, including CEOs of major Canadian corporations, high school counsellors and academic administrators. It ranks the ?best overall? comprehensive universities.... "

That's a shame. 🙁
maybe not, but the mods here aren't thin skinned panty waists either....

I didn't take his comment to heart because I recognize that he's just a kid with some issues striking out for no good reason.

Most forums, however, don't allow that kind of thing. Personal insults, thread crapping result in a temp ban at rage3d. As it should be. It's the only way the adults can hold a conversation.

Real life is going to hand you some harsh lessons if that kind of thing bothers you even a little bit. The mods here are doing you a favor by not doing anything about it.

What's your problem? 'real life?'
How old do you think I am?
Do you know anything about me?
No. I'm probably older and more experienced than most of the people posting in this thread.
I would ad more but I refuse to be reduced to their (and, unfortunately your) level.

It was just a joke...the thing with AT is you can't take things so seroiusly.

And yeah..bragging about your school is not going ot make more people here like you either 😛 ESP. when it's a school in canada! aha.

Bragging? I didn't even mention it at first. Defending is a more appropriate word.
I'm starting to think that this forum is not worth coming to.
I just wanted a little civil help and look at what you can muster: calling me a retard.
Congratulations. Does it make you all feel big?
I thought that the general hardware section might benefit from my expertise based on my previous employment but I don't think you deserve it.

There is a difference between defending and bragging. How about you reread the posts you made..including the quotes you pulled from their website? Was that really necessary? It just makes you sound like a pompous brat.

Even in this last reply you have this condescending tone. I"m not trying to put you down but I'm just telling you how you come off. And if you are too defensive to realize that then you're gonna have a lot of people in life hating you.

and dont think you're so important that we'll actually notice if you stop posting...cuz uhhh we won't 🙂

He was SPECIFICALLY asking what defines a comprehensive University. I quoted the section which definies it
