I thought the Big Ten was better than the Pac 10, but my friend just convinced me otherwise. In the one game where the two top teams have played each other (Oregon @ Michigan), the Pac 10 team blew away the Big Ten team. Cal, USC, Oregon, and Arizona State are all better than Michigan, the second best team in the Big Ten. and Stanford, Washington, and Washington State are probably better than Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, or Northwestern.

Also, he says that the Big Ten does not have a single good non-conference win. Cal-Tennesse, USC-Nebraska, Arizona State-Colorado, Oregon-Michigan. even UCLA-BYU are all better non-conference wins than any Big Ten non-conference win.

What do you guys think?
Hmm, what about this scenario...

Michigan (7-2) crushed Notre Dame (1-7)
Notre Dame (1-7) beat UCLA (5-3) (how embarrassing is that?)
UCLA (5-3) beat California (5-3)
California (5-3) beat Oregon (7-1)
Oregon (7-1) crushed Michigan (7-2)

WTF is going on?

Hmm, perhaps the fact that you simply cannot compare teams in such a fashion and come up with an obvious answer.

Yes, Michigan dropped its first two games, but it has since won 7 straight (fairly convincingly each time) all while fighting through injuries. Cal, USC, UCLA...they're all losing games now in the prime of the season. Yes, USC has injuries, but that's no excuse because that's not stopping Michigan.

Yes, Oregon convincingly beat Michigan way back in week two, but how would they do in a rematch? I wouldn't be so confident to bet against Michigan the way they're playing now, whereas Oregon has seemed to have slowed down.

IMO the Pac10 is a mess. One week you'll see team A blow out team B, the next week you see team B beat team C, the week after that you see team C blow out team A...this isn't like the SEC where they're cannibalizing each other in closely contested games, its a very jumbled and inconsistent mess where even the bottom feeders are somehow beating teams they shouldn't be by margins that are just too absurd.

At least the Big10 is looking like it is going to shake out into a decent distribution

He said stay, not go. As in win this game. C'mon... read, then post. ;)

Well...look at the post below yours.

ASU will not beat Oregon (this coming from a former ASU season ticket holder and ASU "fan").

Who cares? The point of his post, was that he thought they would win this game, not the next. You were wrong, just move on.
