It looks too compact in the rear to offer much useful space. Frankly I can't imagine anyone cross-shopping this and any BMW product, no matter what strides Caddy may have made.

Yeah, who in their right mind would do that.

Right. I don't see it either. Buy the Caddy and lose 50% in two years. Look at the prices of used 1-2 year old CTSs and DTSs. It's scary.

I don't know about the CTS loosing that much. I just did a look online and the 3 year old models are listed for 65% of their original values. The leasing companies were setting the residual at pretty much the same rate as the 3-series for the new CTS models.

I will say that I did cross shop BMW and Cadillac and decided on the CTS. I liked it a lot better than a 3-series of the same price.

That and the CTS held its value very well until the new model came out. But that can be said for just about all cars. The only reason I got my CTS is that the prices started to drop when the new one came out and we were able to afford our used one.

Of course maybe some people are mad at Caddy since their BMW is in the shop with high bills while the CTS just keeps driving so they have to try and rewash the old "but does it hold its value..." BS.

Well, my CPO BMW has a 6-year/100K warranty and all routine maintenance is covered for the first four years, so I'm not too worried about "high bills." I've driven a CTS and felt it had the same essential cheapness of every other GM car I've ever sat in - not really my cup of tea - but I'm glad they've made at least some strides. Other things being equal I would rather drive an American car than a German or Japanese one, but there has never, ever been an American car during my lifetime that I feel compares favorably to its Axis-powers rivals, so for the time being I will have to keep living on the dark side . . .
