It wasn't that bad a car, mind you, nor was it ass ugly like the Aztek (in fact it was quite a beaut for its time.) But at some point in time everyone realized that it was a hopped up Buick underneath Pininfarina's boxiest skin ever...that Cadillac was trying to sell for $60,000!!!!!! No manual tranny option!

Who was the competition back in 1990 (same price?) Lets see...Mercedes 560SL, Porsche 944 S2 (cheaper back then), Acura NSX, GM's own Corvette ZR1, Jaguar XJS, and ahh...yes...the lowly BMW 840Ci!!

Ahh a little Tango and Cash action, I actually didn't mind the Allante if they were used, the MSRP as you said was just way too high, good thing they dumped on the used market like all american cars usually do...

The worst Caddy engine...that is a toughie...either it is the 8-6-4 however I don't recall if that was limited to only caddilac, or it is any variation of the Northstar...what a POS, heck I know mechanics who wont even work on that engine becuase it is such a pain.

YES!! That's the one, the 4.1L.

Does $2500 for a 90 deville in pristine condition and 101,000 miles sound like a decent deal?
There just isn't crap out there for $1-3000 when you're car shopping. I'd like to get something that would last a few years.

My other option is a 95 GrandPrix 4dr w/ 96000 miles for $2500. Haven't driven it yet, but it's had most of the usual 60-100,000 mile stuff replaced on it

Get the Grand Prix. I think it got the 3800 V6, great reliable engine.
