What was the point? Was it supposed to be a joke? Was it an angry fuck you to their jewish commander? There was some reason behind the action, I'd like to know what that was.
Act like Nazis and deal with the consequences. Maybe it will turn some of them into decent human beings.

Right wing bigots feel enabled by this admin, let's not beat around the bush. This is team sports ID stunt crap, you know it, I know it. The alt right has never before been this validated by an elected* government, by their own admission even. And now it's why we have Jewish and brown people scared for their lives now, the prospect of being gunned down, stabbed or run over at any point in their day is a very real fear for them. Because fuck the optics, get out of my country! To ignore the unprecedented surge in this racist shit after 2016's Putin tainted outcome is to deny reality, something very much en vogue with Trump supporters I know, but feeble nonetheless. Good news it's thoroughly disgusted so many moderates, even a lot of the money first crowd, I think all that mixed with less gerrymandering and a waning boomer pop is going to tilt things in the Dems favor. 2018 ain't over in some respects. If anything these last 2 years have proven it is the public's demand for oversight was well warranted.

A comedy troop mocking people who think nazi salutes is a thing to do.

I think that covers it scenario wise

I was thinking sketch comedy featuring Roman History appreciation. Ave not Heil?

Slim pickins really.

actually not even comedy is safe anymore. music is the only media format that hasnt fallen victim to cancel culture. im not saying that this particular incident isnt deserving, im saying that if they were also singing at the same time, nobody would care.

Raising a hand and 'hailing' an instructor is not offensive. We need to know more about the true intent here.

I don't think they should be fired, however I think it should be on their record of employment 'judgement issues' and delayed graduation until they obtain another course educating them as to why its a stupid thing to do

oh oh oh i thought of another one! go to a popular tourist attraction and whenever someone asks you to take a picture of their group instead of saying cheese tell them to do a nazi salute!

I mean... poor judgement? Yea. They were instructed aka ordered to do it. If you have put on an uniform you know you leave a lot of the common sense at the door. You dont question you just do. I can see why there has to be made an example too. IMO its a case of wrong place + wrong time + poor judgement. You are not always 100% in control of your fate.

Sometimes, I will get hooked on one thing or another.
Lately, its been the you-tubing of the many hours of the Adolf Eichmann trial back in 1961. If I were a teacher, this should be mandatory viewing for history class.
I seriously doubt anyone that glorifies the Nazis really knows what the hell they are doing. I mean, one can hate this group or that group or hate this race or that race but what the Nazis did during WWII and what Adolf Eichmann did during WWII I can not imagine anyone celebrating.
I guess the uninformed and misinformed might think celebrating the Nazis is all fun and games, but they really have not a clue for what they are actually celebrating.
And to do that so callously.

Caution. Graphic Video.

I'd like to know the entire story.
The narrative of the story is stone the adulteress, burn the witch, mercy, compassion and rebuking in order to show one the error of their ways without destroying them in the hope of bettering themselves is for the weak and cowardly,

zero tolerance is the mantra of the day so we can feel morally superior pointing the fingers at others we consider to be beneath us while we hide in our own glass houses.

From the OP's article:

All of the West Virginia correctional cadets seen apparently giving a Nazi salute will be fired, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice announced.
Justice said. "But this incident was completely unacceptable. Now, we must continue to move forward and work diligently to make sure nothing like this happens ever again."

Nobody was stoned or burned. Some people got fired for messing up at work (in a way that went very public).

Sounds to me as if the instructor in charge, who ordered the whole thing, got off rather lightly. Hopefully she will never be employed by the government ever again in any capacity more senior than toilet cleaner. I don't think there's any question that her culpability is far greater than that of the recruits. The reports say that the whole thing had to be repeated several times because some of the recruits at first refused to participate.

For the recruits, you could argue it was a bit harsh, given they appear to have been pushed into it by that instructor, but I'm not inclined to go to bat defending them - people have been fired from all sorts of jobs for much less.

Though I wonder who chose to hire that instructor and if her bosses have in turn looked the other way in the past?
