I have ATT, Media One (whatever they call themselves these days) @Home service. My cable started to drag really bad about 2 hours ago. For some reason, now I can only access AT. I'm not really complaining cause I don't go to many other places. I called them up and they said they are having tons of calls from my area (Richmond, VA). Anybody else having issues today?

I was seeing this exact same problem last night. AT worked... other sites like nytimes.com didn't. It's a DNS server issue. Manually switch to a different DNS server, like one of the Opennic.net servers listed here until they get it resolved at AT&T end.

Yea ATT took over 850,000 @home subscribers in 5 days last week and their service is capped much lower than @homes also it is much more crowded bandwidth is at a premium there. so basically you are probably paying $15-$20 more for worse service :)

I guess ATT backed out on their 307 million deal and took there ATT@home subscribers cut them off @home and slid them over to their network. I also have ATT (Insight) @home which now I guess is just ATT@"we're screwing you" instead of @Home but at least I have ok service many people are getting dial up bandwidth :Q and a few in Colorado area are getting no service at all!

I'm in eastern PA and I'm having serious problems for a few days now; getting speeds that are around the 33.6kbps modem range. Called them numerous times, still nothing. Unfortunately, there are no other broadband ISP's that provide service around here; not within about 8 miles or so. :(

Sadly, i believe these problems will continue untill ATTBI gets thier new network finished, at lease we have internet.
My friend wont have internet for 3 more days becasue ATTBI forgot to put his modem in thier database.

Sigh..... :(

I have AT&T Broadband in Denver, Colorado. It seems AT&T is having quite a few DNS problems, at least on their servers in my areas. Also, the downstream speed slows noticably from the promised 1.5 Mbps to around 128 Kbps during peak usage times (early evening). When I'm on early in the morning or late at night, I get at least a megabit. Unfortunately, with Excite@Home, I got 3 Mbps all the time. Hopefully AT&T with get the shiznit together.

AMD,

I also am paying $20 more for bad service so I feel for you :frown:

Burt,

ATT caps at 1.5mbps! so you will never get the peak that Excite had. :frown:

do not get your hopes up excite@home is a thing of the past. it's a whole new ballgame now. :(

Fortunately we here in Arizona are going through either Qwest DSL or Cox @home cable. Cox bartered a deal with @home so I've had no problems at all. Was downloading at 265Kb/s earlier tonight. We'll have three months to transition our customers to our own networks. :) Yes, I work for Cox...;)

I had to read that a few times to make sure I understood it correctly. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that they were fortunate to have Qwest DSL before. <j/k>

More seriously, to repeat my advice again (since it's worked for me and a few others), if you are having DNS problems I highly recommend switching to non-ATT servers for the next couple of days by overriding the DNS entries assigned by DHCP.

Unfortunately, I am writing this from an OC3 line, so i really can't comment on the pain;)

I do have COmcast@home at home, and it seems to be fine from what my parents have told me. It usually levels off at about 400KBps or about 3-5Mbits per second. I have to hand it comcast, they have damn good service where i live. I used to have coxRR and they were great too.

By the way, using Limewire, I hit my personal best of 17Megabits per sec yesterday. Of course if i do that too often(set 400 connections active) my Admin will notice;)

cABLE STILL ROCKS WHEN @HOME

Mediacom has been really good to us here in MO, except that the E-mail thing still isn't too stable.
