Question Cable Phone

Hello,

I have Cablevision/Optimum online for my phone service. I know I can plug my phone into the cable modem in the phone port but is there any way I can plug it into an ethernet port on another floor? I want to have the main unit with the answering machine and keypad unit in that room.

Thank you,

Mike

You should have a phone patch panel no? Just connect the phone port on the cable modem to your phone patch panel. Green and red are line one.

Having been an Optimum tech, the way we did it (the EASIEST way) is plug the modem's phone port into the nearest phone jack in the room the modem is in, using a splitter at the wall if you want a phone in that room, then going out side and disconnecting any connections to the street/copper lines. Then every phone jack in the house works.
