Cable or Direct TV?

I currently have cable which all told costs me just under $40/month. My reception sucks and some channels I am supposed to get are unwatchable.

I can get Direct TV for ~$45/month with presumably WAY better reception, more channels and pay per view.

Is ther ANY reason for me not to switch?

btw, I can also get the dish and installation for free in less than a week!

not sure if it's still true, but with DBS you usually can't get local affiliates

i.e. NBC will be out of NYC...even if you live in Pennsylvania

you might be hooked up then

also, sometimes in strong rain your signal will crap out...but it's usually not too bad

make sure you have a clearing for the dish too...i *think* it needs to point southwest or so

The only downside is that if you are a Trek fan, you will only be able to get UPN with an antenna, as DirecTV doesn't offer it.

Why don't you just call the cable company and tell them to fix it....or do it yourself......easy solution.

The picture should be just about perfect unless your cables are broken.

 

I live in Brooklyn and just got DirectTV. It's really much better than cable, esp if you are a techophile. I had to pay $5 more to get local channels, don't know if I get channel 9 (UPN) but that will suck if I don't because Buffy is on it

EDIT: I check the website and I do get UPN and the rest of the local channels and it's 5.99 a month more. I get $40 worth of free cable from my company, so I only end up paying $40 a month.
