Hello.

I have decided to get cable broadband.

Is there any difference that anyone knows about in the performance between the

MOTOROLA Surfboard DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem, Model SB5100

and the

D-Link DCM-202 Express EtherNetwork High-Speed DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem
?

Does either one do anything better than the other?

The D-Link is cheaper by $30 after $20 mail in rebate.

Any thoughts? Anyone have these?

Anything to the TurboDOX? bandwidth acceleration software that D-Link has on theirs?

Thanks for the input!

That D-Link is supposed to increase the speed up to 20 times? Sure. Oh, and I love this line, pulled from the website "The DCM-202 Cable Modem makes your broadband connection more efficient and effective by clearing network congestion, resulting in a boost in download speeds."

So a modem can actually clear up network congestion now. Thats amazing. What does it do, kick all the other modems in the node offline?

Yeah, I am wary about grand performance claims too.

However, it does also have all positve reviews at NewEgg (20 of them) and is $30 cheaper.

So, if it is as good, or possiblly better, then it would be a good buy. I'm going to go try to find some reviews and get back to this thread. I was hoping someone had experience with both of these and could shed some light.

I think the modem would be fine. I have D-Link network equipment and have never had a problem. I like my Motorola cable modem also. I am sure the dlink modem will work fine for you and is probably a great modem, I just have a hard time believing it will be any faster than any other cable modem.
