Cable modem

I am moving to an area that, if I want cable internet, I have to buy the modem. What modem do you recommend? Good quality and reasonable price. They offered to sell me on for $200, but I think it may be a cheap one.

dunno, i got mine for the same price from my cable company, it works fine. Most modems are about 200$, theres no major difference as far as I know (aside from some funky external designs). The cable modem from the cable company will be fine.

I found one one the internet:

Motorola Surfboard External High Speed Cable Modem

It is only $143 + shipping.

Maybe there is others!!!

Most (like my cable co) includes the modem as part of the cost of service BUT because they have changed mine out 3 times and used all 3, i would have to say buy a Toshiba PC1100....i think thats the model.

I might also mention that if yu have a problem and didn't buy it from them,,,,your screwed cause yu know thats going to be the problem..ok.

I've had a Pcx-1000 (Toshiba) and haven't ever had a problem with it. There is very little packet-loss and it's probably a reasonable price, being that it's almost 2 years old.

Toshiba PCX1100U...usb connection...no ethernet card needed. i'm using the ethernet port for another computer...so i got two computers hooked up...rock solid and superfast. got it for $150...look around at pricewatch. this modem kicks ass...
