Cable modem

If I have a cable modem and I want to play games on the same server as my roommate, what router will let us have more than one IP address? I remeber having problems before using a linksys router on battle.net, but I also heard linksys is a decent brand. So....?

i guess only the cd key matters.. ip doesnt really matter, duh i dont have rounter just wireless network cards

You sure? We had 2 different keys and if we both signed on, it would get ULTRA laggy until one person got kicked out. I think this happened with other games too...
Which router should we get?

I run an internet game server (CS) on which 8 people can join.
My son and I both join it often with no problems.
This is via a cable modem and Netgear router (an old RT314) on which I have a network of 6 computers.

What are your speeds? Can both of you surf the "net" without any slowing down? What router do you currently have?

FWIW, I had massive lag issues with my Linksys WAP11 router. Assuming it was a problem with the router (since I had one other Linksys that died about a year earlier), I upgraded to my D-Link 714P+ they seemed to go away. :/

One man's experience, though.

Some ISPs will allow multiple intenet IP address if u hook up a hub to the modem, and then hook 2 computers to it, roadrunner sued to do this I think they are working on blocking the ability to do this now.
