Cable modem problems and possible replacement question.

Hi all,

Recently I have been developing horrendous (what I presume to be) packet loss with my internet connection. The internet will just hang and then kick back in 30 seconds later, and it does this a few times a day which can be very annoying.

I've tried two routers and one computer but the problem keeps occuring.

I'm thinking that it might be my Toshiba PCX1100U (which I have read seems to have this problem) and am thinking about replacing it with a Motorola SB5120 or Dlink DCM-202 off of NewEgg.

Thoughts? Opinion on either replacement modem?

Thanks!

Make sure your modem is pluged into the very first coax cable that comes in you house, use a quality spliter and keep those to a minimum.

I'm using the line and three-way splitter my ISP provided, it has worked fine for the last three years. It just started acting up in the last few months.

I've had the SB5120 for awhile its a great modem. With that said I doubt its your current modem causing the issue but who knows.
