Cable Modem Help?

I recently got cable net service. The last 2 days the power light stays on the modem, and the Recieve led is lit up, but the send just blinks? Any Ideas, called the cable company, and they say there testing the line, but I dunno what's up.

Motorolla 4200 surfboard modem....

I dunno, I need it for my school work, I'll call them again, I swapped out the cables on the back, still no go, I don' think it's my NIC card either. I just wish they would get it back working......No cable at home=Sux0r

I agree to that! I have the same modem thru Charter Comm ... that same problem used to happen to me often. When i called they would say that my area line was down, and that it would be up again soon. After about a couple of hours, it would be back and running. It might also be that the actual cable modem or cable line is bad. I've had a friend who had to switch his modem 5 times (The recieve light would just be blinking in that case). If u have a friend who might lend u his modem for a little bit, u can try using his and see what the problem is. I'm thinkin that the line is down and they just need to work on it on their side.

Unplug the power to the modem, wait 30 sec & plug it back in.

I've already had to do that. Sometimes It will work fine for 4-5 days, then day 6, have to unplug completely, and let set for minute or so, plug back in and it works fine. This is the modem that the cable company uses, might have to get a better one of something. I unplugged it last night for about 2 hours, plugged back in, no workie.

It's getting annoying, and if I'm not able to do my online class on Thurs, I'm not going to be happy....

Well that modem is generally considered to be quite reliable and stable.

You can look into this further and post for additional help at the broadband forums over at dslreports.com.
That's where I'd post about broadband issues.

Might be worth temporarily trying to use via the USB connector instead of via NIC. Power cord removed while switching.
