Cable Modem Free At BB this Weekend!

I just walked into Best Buy and they have a Motorola Cable modem, model SB4200 for $90, with a $90 mail-in rebate! I think that the BB ad actually shows this deal, so some of you may already know about it. But I couldn't find the BB ad posted here, so I am posting this as a reminder. I just picked mine up and it is legit. Apparently, the ad was supposed to be for the Lynksys modem, but it works for either the Linksys or the Motorola "while supplies last." They were down to the last three when I was there an hour ago.

Happy shopping!

Linksys!!!

I've been waiting for a Linksys Cable Modem. I want it to fit nicely ontop of my router. I know where I'm going tomorrow...

Damnit, you got my hopes up. I just ran and checked the ad - $59.99 after Instant and Mail-In Rebates...

Sorry about that. 🙁 I didn't realize it myself. The store display does not say it, and the salesperson didn't tell me of the restriction when I asked about the warranty upon check out. I'll return it if I decide it isn't worth it for $50. I suspect the original ad (which I didn't see) mentions the restriction.

$50 is a good deal for this modem. I got one last week for like $41+tax after rebate because I used a 10% off coupon off the $90 before rebate price.

Yeah, but my current one works fine. If it breaks, all I have to do is call Cable Company and they replace free. I want a cheap Linksys so it will sit ontop of my router... 😉

The LinkSys Cable Modem actually has a different shape then the rest of the LinkSys routers. so it won't look good sitting on your LinkSys gears.

It depends which version you get. The older version 1 stands vertically and isn't compatible, but the newer version 2 lays horizontally and looks just like the Linksys routers/WAP. It is meant to be stackable like the Linksys routers.

Example of version 1. Not stackable with Linksys routers/WAP

Example of version 2. Stackable with Linksys routers/WAP

Yup...I did too....not a bad deal at all!!!

Same here, still an excellent deal if you are renting/leasing a modem. It'll pay for itself in 10 mos., and I'll own a modem in case I move. Also, if you happen to lose the modem, you won't have to pay $200 or whatever ungodly fee cable cos. charge for non-returned modems.

My cable company (ATT Broadband) used to offer a $10 a month credit if you used your own modem, but now they only give you $2 a month credit and charge you a 1 time $10 charge for activitating your modem. The CSR said it was to cover restocking your rented modem, which is a bunch of bs if you ask me. It's just a another way of deterring you from buying your own. Even if I got a modem for $50, it would take me nearly 2 years to cover the cost of buying my own. I just thought that it wasn't worth it.
