I've got cables all over the place on the inside of my case. How much of an issue could this cause? They aren't touching any parts or anything like that...they're free from the fans and everything, but would I get extra (noticable) cooling if their placement was a little more orderly?

Yes, cable management can improve cooling.

I use zippy ties.

It could do a little bit for your airflow, depending on your fans and such.

It's not going to be a huge deal if you have them pretty much out of the way already.

I'm hardcore into cable management, I always make sure to have as little cable showing as possible. I wire stuff behind the mobo tray, and behind anything visible. In my old case there is no hope so I let that one go, (7 drives all ATA, plus live drive that has ribbon cable, 9 fans) there was no hope. But on my new case I've made my cases damn clean.

I've always had a hard time managing cluttery cables.

I'm paranoid that something may get screwed up...

I use zip ties to tie them together. I also run the cables around the motherboard and stuff any excess into my front bays.

Always be sure that the connectors and cables are clear of fans though. I had a 4 pin connector fly into a fan one day out of no where. It was totally random.

Well my case is special...all the cable I don't use I just tuck them away in the PSU or HDD compartments.

I got a little obsessive regarding my computer cables on the out side of my case.

My main monitor( 19 in crt) has its vga cable and powr cable in a 1 inch split flex tubing. Also in the 1 inch tubing, i have the cable for my mouse/keyboard recieiver(wirelss keyboard and mouse), usb cable and pwer cable to usb hub on my desk.

My lcd montor has its power cable and vga cable in its own 1/2 inch split flex tubing.
My speaker cable from the back of my case to my subwoofer to my satalite control pod are also in its own 1/2 inch splite flext tubing. It makes things a look a little neater.

If some of the cable segemtns run near each other, i bundle them together. My desk almost looks like a peg board on the metal supports that hold the actual desktop area, so have some of the tube runs zip tied to the desk in varous locations to keep the cable more organized.

The back of my desk and pc tower, look a million times better than it did before.

I suppose I have to say that I'm a bit obsessive too. Having said that, I can't imagine that any of it really makes a significant difference as far as temps go.

If you must obsess, it pays to be able to cut and crimp both wiring and IDE cable.

The inside of my case is never seen, but I know what's there. Unfortunately, once I get an idea I cannot rest until it's executed.

Wiring out of the side of a PSU? Sure. Why not? No one else is doing it.

Through the vent holes out the front? Sure. Why not?

Why not? Maybe a better question is Why?
