Cable internet so slow, what could it be?

For the last 3 days my cable internet speed has been unbeleivably slow, speed tests of less than 1 Mb/s. I did a speed test about 4 days ago and I was hitting 4 Mb/s (my Cox Cable max speed).
I'm plugged straight into the cable modem, I've been on the phone with Cox for the last 45 minutes and they show perfect tests to my cable modem with no packet loss and strong signal. So they say its on my end.

I tried resetting my browser and rerunning the tests, still slow, even with a different browser. I even booted into SuSE Linux and ran the speed tests from that OS with the same results. So I doubt its an OS problem.

Zonealarm and any other software firewalls are closed.

What could it be? The integrated NIC on my Abit NF7?

Any help would be great!

well the key here is "what changed"

Can you try at different times of the day? Maybe some guy on your segment is pumping out the data.

Nothing has changed as far as hardware goes... Really nothing as far as software either.
The only thing I've done is shut my computer down once and rebooted.

I had a similar problem recently. Slow for three days. First thing I tried which usually works is this:
Shut down all network PCs. unplug router(from electric). Unplug cable modem(from electric). Plug cable modem back in and wait for it to initialize and all lights on etc. Then do the same for router. This usually is needed for me to do once every couple of months. However the most recent problem was fixed when I replaced the cable between the router and modem.
