I can get my two computers to share one cable connection in windows 98 with sygate but how do i get it to work in windows 2k server? sygate can't start.
please help..

my set up

computer a-sharing computer
2 nics one to cable one to hub

computer b - client
1 nic connected to hub

Right click "My Netowrk Places" go to properties, right click "Local Area Network" go to properties, then you will see a sharing tab. Check it for the network card that your cable modem is hooked up to.

And that's it!! Set your other computers to DHCP.

Are you determined to use Sygate to share the cable connection? If not, w2k has it's own Internet connection sharing software. You can find a detailed step-by-step on my website in the signature.

Sygate also should work in w2k, but it depends on which version you're using.

I really think the answer to all these "how do I share my broadband internet connection" is very simple.

Get a router/switch for less than $100. The performance/features/ease of management you get are incredible for such a low cost. Plus you don't have to hassle with two NICS, ICS software, firewall software, clunky 486 linux box, and all that stuff. Not to mention the LEDs on the router help with troubleshooting. No worries about differnt OSs and compatibilies.

"How do i share my internect connection" - get a router. That is my final answer Regis.

I agree with Spidey,

Plus with that you get some type of firewall with it. All for under $100 in some cases. Although for top end (Web Ramp) still only looking at $350.

If you did not want to use ICS you can use RR but it is a little more advanced in setting up.
