CABLE INTERNET CONNECTION PROBLEMS

I have been unable to connect to internet. I have tried a new router. I have tried bypassing the router. I have called the service out to see what could have happened. I can access other unsecured wifi in my apartment building. The tech connected his laptop to my ethernet outlet and he got service. I have taken both my laptop and desktop to a computer shop both were able to access the internet with no problems at the shop. I have also connect it to other cable systems and have no problem connecting. It's only when i get home is when the problems start. i'm sure it's a hardware conflict or maybe some type of virus. I would appreciate any help on this problem. i have network magic on both machines. When i use the wire out of the router netmagic does not detect internet input. I have checked all of my cables. i have a broadcom 802.g network adapter for the laptop and Nvidia for the desktop

Does your router maker have a toll free tech support number? They often have specific settings to try in cases like yours.

Good luck. 🙂

Sounds similar to what I just went through a couple weeks ago (moving).

If you unplug the power from the Cable Modem (Cable Company supplied), does the Power go off or are there still LED's lit?

I had a real headache with mine. There's a Battery pack in it. If you're in the same situation you'll need to remove the Battery and Power cycle the Modem to reset everything and get new IP's assigned.

This is how to do it with Comcast anyway.

I have contacted the router tech help. We reset it and reset again and again and it still doesn't connect. I get no internet even when i plug the ethernet straight into the computer. I get a trouble renewing ip address.
