Cable internet acting up.

It seems today my Charter cable again is have some issues. It's either the modem or the TP-Link DD-WRT router.

Suddenly my DD-WRT router can't get an IP from modem, no matter how many times I reboot the router and modem.

I had to connect my PC directly to the modem to get online at the moment.

Why is this? It seems PC is a lot easier than a router (no matter what brand/model) to get an IP address from a modem for my past experiences.

Time to build an x86 firewall?

Logs from modem. IIRC, someone said this means ISP is pushing some updates?

Have you tried a different cable between the modem and router to rule it out as a possible problem? What does your cable modem say about it in the logs?

It's OK now. 😕

Still don't get it why PC can get an IP yet router can't earlier today.

You can always reset your modem and force the ISP to provision it if it offers the feature. Comcast has taken this feature away from me on my sb6121 by removing it from the firmware.

CPE limit of modem is probably set to 1. If you switch the network connection to another device (like your router), DHCP will fail unless you reboot the modem again to clear the CPE list.
