Cable got disconnected on Friday*update!*

Friday, I get back from work-the cable is completely out. So I call up comcast, "No outages, we can get someone out to fix it by tuesday" I said, no way this needs to be fixed! Upon talking to our neighbors, turns out, they had new service installed...so I put two and two together. Basically, ours got disconnected so they could hook up??
I called and bitched about it but got nowhere, any suggestions at all? They are the ONLY PROVIDER IN OUR AREA!!! So I can't even jump ship! Very upsetting...All I got was a "We're sorry about this, and we can escalate your call and speed up service, but they never happened..

UPDATE: The field tech came and apparently when the neighbor had their service installed-they attempted to botch our connection into a 2 connection plate (the guy who did it put in 3 connections) and destroyed our connection in the process. So the tech went ahead and ordered a new plate to accomadate our connection and upped our signal as well, because it has 3 connections on it now as opposed to 3.
So do I persue to b1tch at comcast?

So they took your live cable feed and hooked it up to the neighbors jack and there isnt enough cables for both places? wtf

SO next time you get a bill from your cable company tell them you accidentally paid DirecTV instead

I had the same thing happen in a townhome complex. They had so many cables jammed in the "junction" box in the back yard, that everytime they closed the box it would snap someones cable connection. I bitched to comcast to no avail and switched to direct tv for TV and ATT DSL.

Can you see space from your house? Great! You can get satellite!!

I used to have this happen all the time when I lived in a apartment. They hook someone else up or disconnect someone else and they would cut my internet. Cox was allways good and came in a day or so and would credit us for the outage. After the third time, the tech came by my apartment after he fixed it and said that they were cutting the line because no one had ever marked where it was going to, so they thought it was someone stealing cable. He said the marked it so it would never happen again, but it happned at least 2 more times after that.

Go to the cable box that you and your neighbor obviously share and rehook up your cable.
its probably on the pole and not easily accessible (at least i would not feel comfortable messing with that)

No, it would not be on any pole or inaccessible. Is is on the side of your building between waist height and chest height.

I live in a condo and this has happened to me twice in the last 6 months. The second time they came out I had the guy put some note on my wire saying something to the effect of 'Do not unhook this unless you are absolutely sure'. I would change to another provider (DTV or Dish) in a heartbeat if I had an alternative to Comcast HSI.

I'm pretty sure this happened to me, too, at my old apartment. Everything was fine and then, I'm fairly certain shortly after a new neighbor moved in, my cable was down for the evening. Of course it was a small, local ISP who doesn't have anyone there for support after 5:30 or 6, so I had to wait until the next day to even talk to someone. Luckily, since it was a small, local ISP, they had someone out that morning while I was at work. I got a call from the tech saying that mine was disconnected. He didn't offer up any reason but I'd bet the day before, some tech had disconnected mine to connect theirs.

Sounds like you guys had some similar experiences...I can live without TV, its the high speed net they have a commodity on. We can't get anything else in my area yet....Now I got the automated call a few minutes ago, apprently they will have a tech there between 12-1, and they are checking it and will call me.....update at 2😱opm

This happened to me last summer - we were in a duplex, we had the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor, someone else had the 1st. They moved out and cancelled their cable. Ours got cut.

After a week a guy can out and climbed a ladder to a telephone pole and switched them and it worked, but they didn't do anything about comping us for the week of paid for but unused service.

We always had crappy service in my current house, and the cable company basically said you're SOL or pay $150 to fix it. We switched to all Bell and we haven't had a problem since.
