how can i find what cable i need to i camn move the antenna for my pci wireless card AWAY from the back of my pc?

i have a netgear 311T PCI card

thanks!

Do not extend the original Antenna. For a price of a special Coax Cable (or close to it) you can find a simple directional Antenna that would come with 12-18? of cable.

As in this example: Being a 6dbi directional will yield far better results the the 2dbi Omni stick.

I think that that the above might be comptabile with the Netgear, the site in the link has an 800 number call them to find out.

Just get a new antenna, one with a cord. It will improve the signal streingth and alow you to place it anywhere you want.

Definitely if you can buy a new, higher gain antenna then do so. For reference, it really depends on who and how well the crimp is but a few feet you can use RG-59, a couple of feet to maybe 10 feet I'd use LMR-240. Over 10 feet up to 40 or 50 I'd use LMR-400. There is no exact answer to your question. For your needs, just get a ready made solution to improve your reception.
