Cable for DVD hookup

I have a dell notebook (rig 2 i think) which is pretty much topped out. I usually can't watch an entire movie on battery. I have an additional battery that i replace teh dvd drive w/ so that i have a relatively decent battery life. Is there a cable (USB 2.0?) that could connect the dvd to the laptop w/o having to take out the extra battery?

IMHO, either way you are going to have to power the dvd drive. I don't think you are going to get much of a boost from a second battery. It will help a little but i doubt its worth the trouble.

To me it sounds like you need to rip the DVD to the hard drive. This should use less power, since the DVD isn't spinning, and you can have the second battery in.
