I want to add a second computer to my network port at school. The school registers your mac address and you can't get access unless your mac address is recognized. They don't allow more than one computer usually (they do but it takes a lot of convincing) and I would like to try and use a Cable/Dsl router but was wondering if the mac address of the second computer could be seen by network admins? I don't want to go the software route of sharing a connection and was wondering how I could do it with a cable/dsl router. The computer with the registered nic would still need to be recognized to get access but I don't want the second computer to be seen. Thanks for the help.

Some of them can "spoof" MAC addresses. Also you could try and get the admins to register the new MAC address (tell them your network card burnt out or something 😛
 
I just read the .pdf for the linksys and there is a section on mac address cloning so it looks like i can do it.
 
You can easily do the spoofing with the netgear rt314 as well.
You simply tell it to use the mac address of a particular attached computer.
