I got the Ugate3000 and love it. Rifter go to the link below and read the reviews and user input. I see they now have forums to.

I've used both the Linksys 4 port and the SMC Barricade (also 4 port). I found them to be comparable in performance, but I switched to the Barricade for the included print server, which is nice for sharing the laser printer when I have my main computer down for maintenance/play-time.

I did have occasional problems with the Linksys requiring a reset, but that may have been an @Home problem since I've read about that before. SMC has been very stable and reliable. Just doesn't look as pretty. :)

I have a Linksys 4-port at home that replaced an old P166 running a linux router. So far it's ok, but ever since switching out the linux box, I seem to have more network timeouts in half-life and interrupted connections in Quake3.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? I've upgraded the flash to the latest version, but that didn't seem to help...

Other than that, though, the Linksys has been great... easy to setup with a bunch of good advanced features. A friend of mine has the netgear and he's similarly pleased with it...

I think ill give the SmartLink a try, after all it cant be much differnt than anyhting else, and it says it has a web based configuration utility so configuring it should be easy. Ill let you know how it works out.

I love my SMC Barricade. Easy to setup, fast tech support, and the print server feature is invaluable.

For some odd reason when hosting a HalfLife Server it keeps locking up on anyone using a switch or a router with a built in switch. But anyone using a single port router w/ a hub is doing fine. It must have something to do with the port forwarding over the switch. I have also heard of problems running Teriminal Server over a switch.
