I have comcast high speed internet here in connecticut and over the past two weeks or so I've been having major trouble with my cable connection. Every day (almost, 12 of the last 14) the internet would slow down a lot at around 11am and then completely die at around noon. The lights on the modem (Motorola Surfboard sb2100) keep flashing on receive usually. Then the internet would be usable at around 5, even though it's really slow again, and at around 7pm it'll be back to normal. It's the weirdest thing. It's always been at around the same times, but sometimes it starts earlier or ends later (from 9am to 9pm on sunday). I called comcast and they said there was nothing wrong with the line or the connection. Anyone know what could be causing this?

It could be that somebody in your home, or in your neighborhood (on the same shared subnet), is overloading the system during that time of day. This isn't likely, but it is possible.

Considering the times that you listed, I would venture a guess that your modem is getting too hot during the warm part of the day (late morning and early afternoon) and is not functioning properly. Use a can of compressed air and clean all of the dust out of it, then make sure it is not up against a wall or underneath anything that could be preventing good ventilation around the modem. Maybe even set up a small desk fan to blow directly on to the modem during the time that it has been failing to see if it helps.
