Cable Broadband in Boston (or rather Newton, MA)

I've looked at DSLreports.com and can't find much although I may have done it wrong. Does anyone from the area have any suggestions for ISPs? He doesn't want to pay for a phone so I guess DSL is out.

Thanks

Check out speakeasy for dsl. Some random ad that popped up a minute ago while I was surfing claimed "no required phone service" I have no clue what the fine print is. I use speakeasy and have a phone land line, so all i can say is that Speakeasy DSL is pretty good.

It runs beautifully.

How much are your monthly payments?

$42 a month, I own my own modem so I get $7 off every month.

3 down, 1.5 up.

Actual experience = about 350 kbytes/sec 😉
ping in 30-60s in FPS.

wtf? I Used to work for comcast about 2 years ago and I'm sure rates are universal. $60? Where did they pull that?

In Boston, I think it is $52 a month w/o cable TV and $42 with cable TV. Ofcourse, they always have promotions like $20 for six months.
