If you'll do your homework. you'll find that TimeWarner is about the best at providing Cable Modem service in the US. The tech support can be horrible at times, however.
Most subscribers get free use of modem (brands vary), and no requirement for cable tv hookup - $44.95 per month. BUT options can depend on service area.

The thing you guys are missing out on, is that RR is still making all the money. They let Earthlink resell the service but pay a huge $$ cut to RR.com. Then whenever you call Earthlink for trouble, it must go through earthlink, then to RR for ticket issues.

You're paying a few bucks cheaper (for the time being, earthlink wants to hook you in, then raise the prices too!), to use a reseller of the same service. You still have to deal with Time Warner providing the wiring, and any issues will end up (eventually, at a lower priority) going from earthlink to Roadrunner.

<< RR has dial up too. what about the newsgroups? are earthlink ng's any good? I get VERY FAST d/l with the ng on RR >>

RR has dial-up? I'm in Houston and their web site says they are "considering" offering it. I called up my RR office and they said they don't offer it. Is this area specific?
