Dr. Pizza sez:

SECRETARY OF ENERGY

- Steven Chu, director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory who shared the 1997 Nobel Prize in physics, was announced Monday as Obama's choice for secretary of energy. Chu was an early advocate for finding scientific solutions to climate change and guided the Lawrence Berkeley laboratory to become the world leader in alternative and renewable energy research.

ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT COORDINATOR

- Carol Browner, the former head of the Environmental Protection Agency during the Clinton administration, was named to a new position coordinating White House policy on energy, climate and environmental issues. The new position was expected to spearhead climate change policy.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY ADMINISTRATOR

- Lisa Jackson has served as commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection in New Jersey and was named to hold a similar U.S. position in the Obama administration. Jackson worked at the EPA for 16 years at the headquarters in Washington and in New York City.

SECRETARY OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT

- Shaun Donovan, the head of New York's housing department, was nominated by Obama to run the department charged with providing affordable housing to all Americans. The Harvard-educated Donovan worked in the department under former President Bill Clinton and has focused his career mainly on affordable housing issues.

SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

- Tom Daschle, a key early supporter and savvy former U.S. Senate leader, has been selected by Obama as secretary of health and human services. The high-profile selection signals that the push to extend health coverage to the 46 million uninsured Americans will be a high priority for Obama.

SECRETARY OF STATE

- New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, Obama's former Democratic Party rival for the White House, was named to the top diplomatic post. The move is seen as part of Obama's effort to rebuild America's reputation abroad. Aides have said Obama admires Clinton's work ethic and also believes the former first lady's star power would boost his vision of improving America's global standing.

SECRETARY OF DEFENSE

- Current Defense Secretary Robert Gates, named by President George W. Bush in late 2006, is considered a moderate voice on the Republican's national security team and embodies an important signal of continuity. Obama had said early on he would include Republicans in his Cabinet and the 65-year-old Gates has been lauded by members of both parties since taking over the Pentagon from Donald Rumsfeld.

NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER

- Retired Marine Gen. James Jones, the former top operational commander of NATO, was named by Obama to be his national security adviser. Jones is widely respected by both Democrats and Republicans and has avoided aligning himself with either party but is known to have been a strong critic of the Bush administration's handling of the Iraq war.

ATTORNEY GENERAL

- Eric Holder, a former Justice Department official in the Clinton administration, will run the Justice Department. Holder has been a senior legal advisor to Obama's campaign and helped vet his vice presidential candidates.

HOMELAND SECURITY

- Janet Napolitano, the Democratic governor of Arizona, was named to head the U.S. Homeland Security Department, a sprawling agency formed to bolster civil defense following the Sept. 11 attacks.

TREASURY SECRETARY

- Timothy Geithner, president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, is Obama's choice for the Treasury Department, making him Obama's point person in dealing with the economic crisis. Geithner has helped lead efforts to stabilize financial markets and argued that banks crucial to the global financial system should operate under a unified regulatory framework.

NATIONAL ECONOMIC COUNCIL

- Lawrence Summers, 53, has been chosen to head the council. He was Treasury secretary for the final 1 1/2 years of the Clinton administration and has been a senior adviser to Obama for several months, helping to guide his response to the financial meltdown.

COMMERCE SECRETARY

- New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, 61, a former U.N. ambassador and energy secretary during the Clinton administration, had been an early supporter of Obama after dropping his own presidential ambitions. Richardson's appointment makes him the first Hispanic leader nominated to the Obama Cabinet.

Mary Schapiro , Head of SEC.

Mary looks well qualified, and I actually know Ray from living in Illinois/people connected to his campaign. Ray is a good guy as was an excellent state legislator, not sure how qualified he is for the post though...

I used to have commentary but it sucked... so.. I say I like James L. Jones, he is big and scary and will intimidate the rest of the cabinet.

By trade she is a lawyer, but now that I look back on it Ridge was also just a lawyer/politician so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.

I'm going with "D" - campaign contributor.

One of the nation?s most prominent female elected officials, she made frequent appearances on behalf of Barack Obama during the campaign.
Quid pro quo.

Other than that, she does have AG experience and governor experience in a state with a big immigrant/border problem, no idea on what she's done around that.

BTW, OP good idea putting this all into one thread.

Oh, and the notion that it is embittered republicans questioning his approach is nonsense.

However smart it might ultimately prove to be, the Clinton offer is likely to induce grumbling among some Obama loyalists. The job Obama dangled in front of Clinton has excited a frenzy of speculation and leaking ? exactly the kind of thing the no-drama Obama operation did not tolerate during the presidential campaign. And coming amid word that Obama is eyeing an array of former Clinton officials ? including former Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder for the top job at Justice ? even Democrats began to ask how much change Obama really represents. "What were the last two years all about?" asks one exasperated party strategist. "The restoration of the Clintons?"

So far he hasn't filled all the really big positions. It will be interesting to see what he does with Treasury, Defense, and Energy.

The Trend line is clear, you need no national security experience to head up home land security, because as everyone knows, homeland security has become just another pork cannery and wholesale distributor.

On this we can agree  Homeland security, in it's current state, is a joke.

I'd prefer a career diplomat or other public servant (like Condoleeza Rice or Colin Powell), vs a politician, but it's hard to deny Hillary's fame and popularity. She'd be a big secretary of state for big times I guess.

She's on a first name basis with most of the world's leaders after being first lady for 8 years. The Clintons are viewed very favorably by most of the world. She's a policy wonk who knows every international issue inside and out. She knows how to duck sniper fire.

Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Franz Geithner

You might remember him from such GOB/globalist clubs as:

Kissinger Associates, Senior Fellow @ the CFR, and last but not least the IMF

Resume reads like who's who of the NWO

OBAMA = NO CHANGE

The establishment is still in control.

Timothy Franz Geithner is the 9th president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In that role he also serves as Vice Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).

After completing his studies, Geithner worked for Kissinger and Associates in Washington, DC, for three years and then joined the International Affairs division of the US Treasury Department in 1988.

In 1999 he was promoted to Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs and served under Treasury Secretaries Robert Rubin and Lawrence Summers.

In 2001 he left the Treasury to join the Council on Foreign Relations as a Senior Fellow in the International Economics department. He then worked for the International Monetary Fund as the director of the Policy Development and Review Department until moving to the Fed in October 2003.[1] In 2006 he became a member of the influential Washington-based financial advisory body, the Group of Thirty.

Geithner was born in Brooklyn, New York City, to Mr. and Mrs. Peter F. Geithner of Larchmont, New York. He completed high school at International School Bangkok, Thailand,[5] and then attended Dartmouth College, graduating with a B.A. in government and Asian studies in 1983. After, he obtained an M.A. in International Economics and East Asian Studies from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in 1985. He has studied Japanese and Chinese and has lived in East Africa, India, Thailand, China, and Japan.
